Hey strnho! I’m sorry you don’t like the current mods in your chat, and I’m sorry you haven’t liked our responses to you upon sending in mod reports, but chances are that if we told you we don’t believe a particular situation was an example of mod abuse then that’s really what we believe, and we feel the mods in question are accurately representing how we want the site modded. You may not like that, but then the issue in question is the policies themselves rather than the mods, and I’m afraid we’re not going to change our policies.
If we do disagree with the way a mod has handled a situation, we go to that mod and we talk to them, though we do not always broadcast that to our users. It’s true that some mods get demodded, but as we require mods to give warnings to users before silences, we also give mods a lot of chances before demodding them. Again, you may not like that policy, but it’s one that we believe in and that isn’t going to go away.
Even with a moderator system in place, each user has to take a certain amount of personal responsibility for their own chat experience. Just because I don’t like what’s going on in chat doesn’t necessarily mean that it requires moderator action – perhaps it requires that I mute or ignore the person. :) Those are actually much more effective techniques in getting bad behavior to stop than warning, banning, or silencing.
I would be happy to appoint new mods to the room, but we need to take the time to do so to make sure that we’re appointing people we’re happy with. I thank you for your recommendations, and will look into them, but I can’t promise anything will come of it. Finding new mods takes a lot of time, in some cases, particularly in rooms that speak languages with which we’re unfamiliar.
Thanks very much for your patience, and I hope we can find a solution you’re happy with. If we can’t please you while remaining true to our goals and our policies, you have our full permission to seek a place that manages its community more to your liking. :)
