The energy mechanic (water, in this case) has become such an outdated model I'm surprised to see it here. Especially surprised to see it creating such a pinch so early in the game. Were it not beta, I wouldn't bother coming back for a second session.
Tries so hard to be understated and poetic that it comes off a bit precious to me. Thought it was nicely structured, though, and had a consistent tone throughout. It actually got better deeper into the game, which is rare. 4/5
Backtracking is bad. Backtracking in the first 3 minutes is bad game design. The Robot Wants [Kitty/Puppy/Fishy/Ice Cream] series is a good implementation of the same premise, but with much better level design and more meaningful upgrades. The challenge level isn't well-balanced--being easy isn't always a problem, but it is a problem having no consequences at all for dying (other than being moved backwards, which is sometimes actually faster than traversing the space). Still, it plays fairly well, and it shows some promise. 3/5
I can understand how it would be a fun game if it were remotely playable. Unfortunately, on three different computers, my controls get stuck after performing any action. It's a shame, as it looks like it might be fun. For now, though, it gets 1/5 (as we can't rate 0/5). Pretty pathetic that this game has badges.
As others have noted, it's a game with a lot of potential, but a few basic issues mar the experience. Pause is needed. Greater inventory/storage is needed (or have shards/equipped items not take space). The leveling curve is a bit borked @18-22. Loot variety is limited.
That said, this is a game with a ton of promise. It could be a winner with a few tweaks.
If there were a way to actually play this game, I'll bet it would be fun. However, the controls are so terrible, it's absolutely impossible to enjoy it. Really--how does someone release a game where the controls simply don't work?
For a racing game, I think it's brilliant. Enough variety to keep me playing long past when I'd normally put it down. That said, it has the same problem as a lot of racing games, which is that the difficulty ramps up unevenly, and there's a hard wall (at least for my skill level), which made me quit. 4/5
