….and….? Cheating in a video game is like… deciding to suck an ice-cream instead of lick it. Besides, as I have said, using a walkthrough is essentially cheating in itself so I see nothing wrong with what I did.

I see where you’re coming from but there are problems.

I wouldn’t feel like sending in falsified badge reports if the badges were ACTUALLY obtainable. There is absolutely no way to get the Caesary badges. That’s why I false-reported that one.

I agree to a certain extent about some of what you say in this post except… I can’t agree with most. Some of the things you have said are not exactly justifiable and are subjective.

Your ‘Terms of Use’ does indeed state “No Viruses, Corrupting Files, Interference, or Cheat Software” however, you don’t seem to mind that users use ad block to block the ads which generate revenue for the site which happens to be more detrimental to the site than actually using it without ad blockers to get badges through what you would call “cheating”. Ad blockers can be considered a “corrupting file” or “interference”.

furthermore, your final sentence is arbitrary and subjective. if cheating defeats a purpose of enjoying a game (which is entirely subjective to different people), then why are there official game guides to much longer games on other consoles? And why are there official walkthroughs more specifically, to games on this site which you are currently saying is not good? So are you saying that everyone who uses a walkthrough should get banned for a day because it “defeats teh purpose of enjoying the game and having fun?” I have to say, sometimes I cheat on some of my Playstation games and I find it much more fun. Besides, “modifying” a game or creating user-made levels can be considered cheating.

A walkthrough is pretty much as bad as the un-named software I used to get badges. Besides, the opening sentence of what I quoted is quite vague. “No Viruses, Corrupting Files, Interference, or Cheat Software” What? No interference? Walkthroughs are a form of “intereference” but apparently no one is banned for using a walkthrough.

I can see why people are banned to get advantage in multi-player games on the multi-player aspects of the game, but not to get “badges” which really are just pixels on a screen. Not even on multiplayer games. As long as it’s just to get the badges and not in the actual playing with other people itself, there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong. I don’t mind being labelled a “cheater”, I get few kicks out of getting badges. It’s more of for my completionist attitude of getting all these badges. Why? No reason. Just because.

I have, in fact played quite a few games legitimately. Epic Coaster is definitely one and i point that out because I have a top rated comment on that. Did I find it “fun” failing many times before I finally got the badge? No. not really, it was just more of a relief. I’m addicted to these collecting useless badges, that’s all. And it just so happened that using the un-named software was much more faster and easier than simply playing through a game or using a walkthrough.

Anyway, I know why you felt you had to take action, but I just thought that I should point that out to you.

Yea..well, mine is to escape a specific event that…totally destroyed my entire life. And that is actually really funny because I say the exact same thing. I look at getting badges as my job in a way. I never thought I’d hear someone else say that.

xD Well, I have no idea what destroyed your life, but you seem to be totally open about this event so it would be nice if you gave me some idea of it. Usually, an event would seem hopeless at first but when you look closer there is a way to overcome it or get over it. I’m not sure what it is, but it gets me curious when you say it and then have it on your profile and talk about this “event” that has plagued you since it’s arrival into your life.

Perhaps if you share a little bit I might be able to guide or help?

Um. It’s hard to talk about but I will. I’ve told a few people but not many know. I put that on my profile because I wanted to put out there how important Kong has become for me and I need at least a tiny explanation for it. It’s not like I go around telling anyone I can.
