Anyway, now that you are here, I’m DaSkorpion. Skorp will do. I was born on a sunny summer day somewhere in the middle of August in the north of the Netherlands.

I studied computer science, and as of 2009 I am working as a PhD student at one of the universities in the country.

The Name
I noticed some of you wondering where the name comes from. Well, first of all it isn’t my sign. I’m a leo actually. The name comes from a game I play where many years ago I named an Ork warlord “Da Skorpion”. ‘Da’ being ‘the’ in Orkish tongue. Hence also the ‘K’ instead of a ‘C’. Then I kind of just stuck with it. WAAAGH!!! And yes, some Mortal Kombat influences may be present:)

Mod Info
I sometimes get some questions about being a mod. Often the same questions, so I thought I would discuss some of them here. The first question is what the ‘M’ is doing behind my name, and why I am at the top of the list. The ‘M’ stands for moderator, or mod short. What us mods do basically is trying to keep kongregate a happy and fun place. And this is also why we are listed up top in the user list.

The most common question we mods get is the one asking about how to become a mod. Well, the first thing you should know is that you do not want to become a mod, but you get to become a mod. Basically, just be a good and helpful member and you might get noticed. Please, don’t try too hard either, nor expect to become a mod. It simply doesn’t work like that. Also, there is no minimum number of points or level required to become a mod. Just look at me. I think I was maybe level 19 at the time. For more info read this

The second question is one about why someone got silenced. Well, you probably should know because by then I would’ve warned the person in question at least once by asking to not do something, or as I do most often, giving some advice on behavior. Most of the times I even warn more often than that. Though, if it isn’t entirely clear yet, please do read the Conduct Guidelines here . In case it still isn’t clear, feel free to whisper me. But do remember, the rules there are left to the interpretation of the mod, so in the end we might just have to agree to disagree.

As a final note, help the mods! Mute when someone starts to annoy you, and please don’t feed the trolls.. They get enough food from their own hunts!:p
