The First Time I Met Her
I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her. The first time in years I had this feeling for somebody, but this was so strong, I felt strange. I stare at her beautiful long brown hair and soft pale skin. She makes my heart skip a beat whenever I see her in the hallway, but- No… She wouldn’t like me. I assured myself this several times. How could I work up the courage to talk to somebody so beautiful? All of a sudden she turned around, she faced me… My face blushed, blood rushing to my head from the nervousness of her knowing I was watching her. What should I do! I quickly turn away from her direction and face the board. I look up to the board and down onto my notebook that I had recently drawn a portrait of her.
The only friend I have that knows about her is Mikey. He knows all about her. He knows every detail of her face, her eyes, nose, mouth, hair… He knows this because I never stop talking about it. It’s funny really, he jokingly tells me to just talk to her and see if she’s just like me. Just like me. I think to myself, I wish there wasn’t any label for people just like me. I don’t think it’s fair.
Mikey taps on my shoulder from behind and whispers to me in a calm voice, “Hey. Luna… What are you thinking about? The bell is about to ring.”
