Great game, but I've been experiencing a bug that stops me playing it on my own computer. All I see when I start a level is the map and the flashlight effect. I also cannot delete save games or exit levels. I was running the latest version of Flash, so it must be something else that's wrong. I'm running XP on an i5 2500k + z68 rig with no discrete graphics card, and at a guess I'd say it's something there which is causing the bug. Anyone else experience similar problems?
For anyone hoping to optimise their score, follow this simple rule; complete the longest possible chain first. Favour one long chain and one short chain over two of more average length. This will give you the highest possible score. I've managed to score 71,510 this way, and there may be a few points left that I've missed.
The thing that agitated me most about this game was not the levels. It was that in order to get the achievements for sharing a castle/playing someone else's castle, I had to transfer a save file from Armor Games as the Kongregate version was not coded properly. Would be nice to see this fixed for the people who don't want to go through all that for two meaningless achievements.
I just got the hard badge (and it sure was hard) before I realised something. Achievements increase the amount of money you have in Challenge Mode; I completed all the gold medals with only 9 achievements (2700 gold). Since some people only look at achievements after completing the rest of the game (like myself) it would have been nice if it had said this in the challenge tutorial. For those of you struggling to finish the hard badge, DO NOT make my mistake; go do some achievements first.
For anyone finding that the game runs too slowly (especially when a lot of units are on screen, and even with fast forward enabled) try the following. Build an army that doesn't need any micro managing (freeze or leech weapons are good for this) and get to the boss. When you're sure you will win (eventually) scroll away from all the units. You should hear the attack sounds speed up; the game will now run at intended speed. If you stay just out of view of your units, you can even use area effect spells to speed things up a bit.
For people who don't understand the randomiser, here is a big hint. Once in game, the randomiser is *area dependent*. When you find (fight) a creature that you want in your team, go to the shop *in that area*, buy some randomisers, and use them. You should get the creature you want in 5-10 tries. For example; if you want a phoenix in your team go to the fire area (second on the left path).
The game really needs a warning system if you attempt to leave items in a chest (when you still have space in your inventory). That or you shouldn't be able to just walk away from chests. I just lost an artefact by accidentally hitting an arrow key.
I don't get the score system in this game... I swear the multiplier keeps going up even though it only shows x4. By the end of a song I can be getting 1000 points per second on held notes. Still, nothing can detract from the "AWWW YEAH!" feeling you get when you get a highscore. Easily 5/5 for being so awesome and appropriate for this time of year.
... I may have actually shouted "Aww Yeah!" rather loudly when I finally got the hard badge.
Finally, one month after I start this game, I am finally done. In that time I have made 1170 pizzas! Pro tip for getting all gold quickly: don't bother serving already gold customers, give them a raw margarita and move on. Towards the end you may also get no non-gold customers in a day, if that happens quit and reload to save time.
Unforgivable lag and unintuitive uncustomisable controls ruin what could otherwise be a really fun game. The map design is a bit lacking as well, often forcing you to make a leap of faith, or just run around a pointless maze. Still, there are some nice ideas here. It is just a pity they weren't applied better. [3/5]
I don't understand the need for these button "games", although this one did make me chuckle a couple of times. It might be more entertaining if the button occasionally made some active attempt (beyond camouflage) to evade your mouse...
To play the hidden Valentine's Day level at any time, change the clock on your computer to February 14 and reload the game. It will then appear on the world map for you to play if you have completed worlds 1-10, and you can get an extra 6 upgrade points and gold medal!
Note to everyone complaining that the badges don't work: They DO work, but the API can take a very long time to submit (I left it running for two hours and came back to find it had worked). Try playing more levels to get the API to submit, waiting on the level summary screen, or just leaving the game open for a while and doing something else.
This game is brilliant! Well animated, humorous script, and the most fun new game I've played since Cursed Treasure (alright, that was only two weeks ago). There were reports of bugs, although I have yet to find any. It also lags a little on later levels, but the performance options more than compensate for this. There are plenty of perks, weapons, armour and gadgets to keep you playing for hours, if you want to try everything. And the challenges are varied and interesting enough to make them all worth attempting. With some work on the various grammatical errors, the addition of an auto-save feature and a few extra tweaks this game would be five star material. [4/5]
Not quite as enjoyable as Roly Poly Cannon, but still very good fun. The scoring system gives this game a decent amount of longevity without having an excessive number of levels, although Kongregate-based high scores would be nice. The addition of bonus stars gives good reason to replay earlier levels to get the stars (and 100 more points) rather than just squeezing a few points out of your times. This game seems like a natural choice for a couple of badges one day, hopefully soon. [4/5]
