The point of adding people wasn’t to have the other person have you added, though. In fact, the irony is that Kongregate itself pretty much invented “following.” You could add people to your friends list but they did not have you added back sometimes. This was still useful though as you could keep your eyes on people if necessary, and they didn’t have to “approve” any friendships or anything.

But my question is, why change everything up now just to appeal to that mainstream social networking user? Do the admins not even realize that this website is far from mainstream? Nobody I know that I go to school with uses Kongregate. I tell them what it is and they say they aren’t into Flash gaming. However a good 90% of them use Twitter on their phones anyway. So WHY in the holy hell would Kongregate pertain to THAT market when probably 95-99% of it don’t even use Kongregate?!

I agree Kongregate isn’t at the level of FB or twitter but with this new feed feature your activity on Kongregate will be posted on Facebook if you like your two accounts. I guess if your friends see this they may be intrested in seeing what Kongregate is about. Imo this feed feature is a way to advertise Kongregate for free with the whole social aspect being implemented. I just want to see all this become live with all the bugs fixed, features working, and total 50% have the change to see if it works or not.

But the problem is Kongregate is appealing to people that are not part of it. When someone refers a person to Kongregate they find a unique interface and system that has not been used before. Now it’s quite similar to Twitter’s, and the user that is referring someone to this website dislikes it, so they leave. This is a classic way to kill a company: Focusing on being something similar to another product instead of your own. Happened to a company by the name of WCW that was once one of the single biggest franchises on the planet, that was put out of commission because of it. If Kongregate decides to use this new layout and system, I promise you it’s only going to hurt the place. Ripoffs never live up to the original.

Nah, I’ve just had people add me a lot over the past number of years. Believe it or not, I’ve literally stayed right around 950 fans since mid-2009 due to being pretty inactive. So in only about two years time, I garnered more friend and fan support than over half of the Kongregate Moderators. I’m just good like that. ;)

Me play Starfighter 3? It goes completely against what I stand up for. The second Ben implemented the payments for extra stuff in Async Racing, I stopped playing it, and I was, at the time, its #1 player.
