My only complaint is that it really, desperately needs a quality toggler. Not a lot of games lag for me, but this one did for whatever reason. But aside from that it really is a great game, very fun, aesthetically pleasing, addictive; great!
Love it! The voice acting was absolutely superb, the graphics were adorable, frankly, and it was definitely different from your usual teleportation game, which quickly becomes obvious. There's a level later on, maybe 13 or 14 where I think I maybe managed to only scrape by by accident rather than the intended way, and if that's the case I found it a bit hard to see what I was actually meant to do, but for all I know I was right, haha. I look forward to perhaps...a sequel? Very well made!
I found the controls hard to get used to at first, but it got a little easier the more I played & I was thankful to be able to change them so my playing could feel more natural. Personally I found it a bit too hard, when I got to the boss at the end of lvl 2 the difficulty felt like it jumped up a bit fast & not coming back with a full health bar made it a bit of a chore to get it there each time.
Some minor things that bothered me: I like the returning to the underworld as a concept, but not as gameplay & I really wish enemies couldn't shoot through walls so you could escape. I'd have liked a hotkey for the menu as well, rather than having to click whenever I wanted to pause it.
All in all I liked it, but found it too hard for my liking, which is a shame cos what I did play was enjoyable. Having some more lvls earlier on to help you adjust to the controls & fighting would be great & if nothing else would give a bit more gameplay to those who aren't quite as skilled as others.
Cartoon Network have a "version" of this game. I don't know if they got permission or not. I'm hoping so, otherwise they ripped you off. http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/games/adventuretime/jakes-tough-break/index.html
There are lot, and I mean a LOT of achievements I can't get, even when doing exactly what I'm supposed to. I've looked at the walkthrough, read the list, watched the videos, some things just WON'T activate. This game is so bugged, it's such a shame. It kind of tarnishes the awesome name of the series.
About 90% of this game is luck. If on that first day the platforms aren't all in your favour, that's it. I've managed to get it in six days a couple of times, and I can tell you, unless the first couple of days go perfectly in platform placement, you're doomed. The fact there's no restart button, and the fact that this game is basically just a game of chance rather than skill both made me deduct a star respectively from the overall rating. However, these are things that can easily be worked on if you plan to make more games of this genre in the future, and it's certainly a fun game, and an incredible time-waster!
I have every upgrade available in the shops, but in the truck races all the other contestants have a higher base speed than I do, so even when I'm getting a boost or weapon at every single point they're available, I'm getting overtaken by others because they can catch up with ease. :/
