Why do people whine about the lack of API in a game? Don't knock a quality game just because it doesn't hand out virtual trinkets. That said, this is a poor single level rendition of the fantastic Metro.Siberia with a bland emo rock song in the background, which completely ruins the mood of the game. Worth playing for fans of the original for a new level, but even then the level is very easy and doesn't pick up until the end, no doubt to force the player to listen to most of that dull song.
It's obvious the developer is a Darius fan given the branching routes, boss warnings, and great boss entrances. The game looks and mostly sounds (hate the nu-metal) great, but... it's so boring. Little enemy, attack, and stage variety just keeps things feeling repetitive. The journey to the boss shouldn't just be filler. The absolutely fantastic graphics and presentation are wasted as the game is just not that fun to play. I'd say the ships are too large, to the point where you really can't fit many enemy threats or bullets on screen without losing all maneuverability. Likewise, try to make levels more than just window dressing; look to the Thunder Force series for great horizontal scrolling shooter level design, with moving elements and obstacles which must be navigated around while fending off the enemies.
This is Progress Quest without any of the wit, humor, parody, or intelligence. This sort of "chat app" only succeeds in gaining the "developer" some bonus points for the submission, as this has no merit whatsoever. People who want to chat can load any game, let alone a chat app that features a badge like that simplistic Kongregate Chat, which at least offers some substance and looks the part of a game. This Idle is just a Flash clock timer; it's garbage.
