Not a bad game, but very straight forward. I found myself throwing finese out the window, and using the good old pillage method. I.E. Use the choke points to hold the enemy into managable units, while you rape their resources. Do it that way, and you don't even need to think for most of it. Only one level did I have to change up. And thats because they attacked from 4 dirrections from the start.
I like it... except the computer's pain in the rump tendancy to ignore orders, or attack completely diffrent than needed for a quick victory. You order them to assult the castle. 70% of the time, they just run off and attack villagers, ignoring soldiers and orders.
Normally I get addicted to these games. Graphics are pretty, but detract attention and add little to the game. Play was extreamly repetitive, and led me to bordome quickly. Odd since I love these type of games. Perhapse there is a way to increase the speed of play?
Decent clone of the genre. Now try adding some more spells, changing the grid layout, and giving each enemy a personality. The pilfered artwork is a good way to make a first attempt. But do try to get original art. Otherwise you might be open to copywrite infringement charges.
I litterally spent 10 minutes hid in a corner as they took turns searching it, and always had the exit covered. It was nothing but turning the innvisibility on and off as they sent a guy in to search the corner. But I could never leave it, because there was always a guy watching the exit. 10 minutes is the limit of my patience. If the foes were intelegent they would have moved on and not "wasted time" continually wait for the invisible guy to become visible in the one corner of the map I was hiding in.
I did my first run and did ok. Everythign since that went down hill. Keep comign down from a jump, and hitting an obstical on landing. Then it trips and slows a little.. just enough that I miss my next long jump.
Hit level 61 and not an inch further, as they suddenly all started running straight from the hole to the cake and back without wavering at all. If they don't wander, there's not enough time to kill them.
4/5
The boss battle was a real pain. Flight is useless there. And it takes 3 climbs/jumps to clear him. 9/10 times he nails you. Took forever until I realized I needed to prevent him having a chance. So I kept circling and hitting the rune til I could see 5 fairies. Then I waited til he passed, grabbed them all at once, and hit the ruin. Still barely made it.
Trenches, Razor wire and sandbags did nothign to slow the enemy. And barely helped my troops as grenades rained on them by the time I could even get up a defense. Very annnoying. I did better just letting them stand in the open and making them rangers. Insane.
Decided to give it another chance, incase I was being unfair. Got to the gold mines in goblin teritory, using the elf. (Magic is much better than relying on swords. Less random.) Just had to move and take the fortess I had freed up. Then the initiative got me. 5 Enemy archers, despite my high HP and Armour, got 7 crits out of 10 shots, and ended my game with a leader kill. Such an upset was bizzar since I was on a terrain that makes archers have a hard time against you. Meh.
Hated it on their site, hate it now. Crappy RSP game.
Drags on forever.
Oh, and I got so bored after chapter 3, I quit out.. and it didn't give me option to submit score, so guess what, no badges. I am not going through that crap twice.
