Sep 6, 2009 9:01am Areas has been and still is among my favourite casual games, and I find myself coming back to it when I feel like a bit of vaguely zen clicklessness. It’s immersive (claustrophobia!), it’s engaging, awesomely, awesomely simple/minimalist. About the only complaint I had was the music, which I’m given to understand isn’t your composition – it got a tad repetitive, and I do like playing Areas endlessly. I’m interested in what other games and game concepts you’ll come up with, will be watching you :) also curious to know how microcosmos is coming along – still in the making, being made? show less

Jan 1, 2010 6:13pm The fact that you came up with a whole new concept for a game is fascinating, but areas is now my favorite game of all-time. Thank you.

Aug 15, 2009 8:55am Hehe, just tried Whaa. I must say, it’s practically on the other end of the ridiculous concepts spectrum. It seems so vivid, yet keeps that air of charming simplicity. I must say, it’s practically on the other end of the ridiculous concepts spectrum. It seems so vivid, yet keeps that air of charming simplicity. The whole game being based on whaa gives it a very interesting interface. Like its predecessor, the game has a unique play-style with the mouse, while not being completely anti-clickesque. Obviously it’s more light hearted, and thus has a lighter play time. It seems to me to be an arcade shooter gone haywire, like if vector graphics could have color. Due to the upside-down buttons (¿) and the Spanish music reminds me bit of an abstract hint at colorful fiesta or the sort. Very lively and the control schemes are finicky in a good way. The only things that seem detrimental to the game is the level ten glitch (remedied in-game) and the way that some of the upgrades appear to be more a downgrade at times. (Level 3→4, etc) Also, it seems more random than abstract, which is fine by me. I’d say I’d personally give it a 4.3/5, which rounds down to a solid 4/5. I do hope you release more games soon. :) (End seems intriguing, and so much for the March ’09 release of MicroCosmos. :D show less

Aug 14, 2009 6:23pm Wow, this is quite the game, I have never been struck by a Flash game like this one before. I believe this game single handed-ly brings down the whole idea that games can only be a lesser art. The concept itself is not completely original, however the embellishments and execution beg what I’d moreover consider a piece of art than a game. I always got the impression the game took the hint of an abstract horror story, and simplicity can really be just as deadly. I honestly love the music, it really does suit the theme. And there are layers of complexity that add mystery, but not too much to make it a discovery game. Honestly, I could ramble on and on, but still, I believe this was a unique game that seems slightly under-appreciated. My personal rating is a 4.5/5, which I’ll roundup to 5/5. Simply stunning. Now, as for the complainers, look at the URL of his blog website: http://ridiculous-concept.blogspot.com/ RIDICULOUS. CONCEPTS. Ho.Ly.Crap. You all are ridiculously ridiculous for ridiculing an, essentially, ridiculous riddle. Seriously. Honestly, I don’t think badges should have been a thing for this game, as that was one of the things that were frequently hated, even though that should have no bearing on how the game plays. The only thing they were good for was to attract attention. I personally think there should have only been the easy badge, to draw in people, and most people would have just left it that. No one has to be demanded to do completionism, though that seems to escape the minds of Kongregatiers. Anyway, I can see how other people might dislike the other parts, I guess it really is a love it or hate it situation. Just like art. Just my two cents. show less
