Balloons are ruining this game for me. What is the point of upgrading my rockets if hitting a single balloon can drop me from 100mph to 20? Not to mention that there are upgrades that increase the number of what must be lead filled balloons in the sky. So by "upgrading" the amount of objects, I am literally just creating a minefield for myself? I understand the thought behind that mechanic choice, but maybe tone down how much they slow you to -2 or -3 mph with each hit instead of -80% of your total speed.
The later stages suffer from extreme chugging and frame-rate issues, which would be tolerable if it didn't sometimes ignore inputs during the hitches. I've experienced the lagging on every quality, and even tested it on different browsers, still the same.
Not being able to jump past the second stage makes this game literally unbeatable. 1/5, and I quote AVGN, "What's the most important part of a game? Well, BEING ABLE TO PLAY IT."
Game is doubly impressive since I found out it was entirely developed in a little over a month for a game-jam.
-Voice acting is hammy in spots, but in a way that lends to a comedic value instead of cringe and adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game.
-The puzzles/riddles feel a bit forced, almost like padding, but they are rare and easy enough that they don't get in the way (plus, awesome Funky Student cameo).
-The visual novel feel is what makes this an awesome game. With some more time spent on character art, graphics, and a few more end routes or bad-ends, this game could rival or beat most VN's currently on Steam.
In the end, this game proves that western developers could easily produce quality otome or VN games with more time. I'd love to see another game by this team with a better budget and some creative wiggle room. Definitely give this a play, 5/5.
Amazing game, considering it was developed from concept to finish in less than 5 weeks. Minor bugs and exploits are present, but the overall game is fun and has promise for an ironed out sequel.
And the music is BA. 5/5
Levels 22+ were just needles timing of jumps levels, which with the controls that feel like I have to mash the keyboard to get a response, is not good in a game like this. All other levels were good though, and 'spinning'/'flipping' animation was well done so that it wasn't dizzying. 4/5 because that last damn level killed me 23 times.
