I have to admit, watching an energy bar take damage is all I was really doing in most MMORPGS... This game is oddly satisfying, the skill trees make a big difference.
Re-rolling you character until you start with 54% ranged (max). Put all 3 stat points into Perception as you get them and dump all skill points into ranged. At the end you'll have 102% ranged which will give you 100% chance for an aimed shot to the head using the best rifle (20-30dmg). I'm averaging 120 dmg on a head shot with this build. And since it's only 1ap for an aimed shot with the Overkill Gun it's heaven. Kinda sucks being a sniper only at point-blank range, but oddly enough it's still an awesome build. Using aimed shots at long range to the body adds +20% so anything registering 80% or is easy pickings. The distance you can shoot people at (without missing) is pretty impressive.
By the time you get to the 3 spider matriarchs you should have purchased the 2-14(x8) dmg shotgun for 10k. It kills always the boss spiders with two point-blank shots. So, just blast the one south of you and keep going s.w. the other two won't be in range to strike, but they will be close enough for you to shoot a 2nd one when the next round starts, at which point you're fine. Even if you put nothing into endurance you can get to 68% dmg resistance, so even if it crits you four times in a row you won't die. BTW: If you put all 3 lvl-up stat points into END, you can get to 80% dmg resistance, and you'll still have enough ranged combat to hit for over 100% with the best shotgun at point blank. It's like a melee weapon that doesn't miss. Plus it's an instant 1-shot kill on humans and everything else except the boss creatures.
I dislike having to click a billion times with every single weapon except the Uzi... which I won't even get to because I'm not going to give myself Carpal Tunnel just trying to play this crappy game...
simple game tactics: to start only spend money to buy people until you have 4, then spend cash on wall hp and the villa, push your wall health to 100 and villa to 50% dmg bonus before the armored wave and you can win with even the weakest weapons
auto=shotgun: DocHoliday(5), Accuracy(10+), Reloading(10+) and an anti-armor mod. Strongest shotgun class: Nobel despite a lack of docholiday, it has both anti-armor & anti-air skills -- though I always end up using three rogues and a guardian...
Okay, aimed shot clearly halves your rate of fire giving you 70% dmg bonus in return, the hidden benefit is ammo conservation, more bang for the buck means you waste less time reloading
