Footsteps ring out, measured and deliberate, as a long-coated individual in a trilby, his eyes covered by the hat, stops at the edge of the light. He speaks in a low, rich growl, a tattered dog-end gently smoking between his lips.)

So. You ask who I am.

I’ll admit, you’ve got stones. Asking a question like that in this town could get you killed – or worse.

Suffice it to say, I’m the one people come to when things get too… ordinary. When they make too much sense.

You want to hire me? Yeah, I’m available. But I don’t come cheap, and I ain’t talkin about money. Going on a venture with me is… well, some people tell me that I’m… disturbing. That I wreck their current worldview. Some people can’t take that. So I bow out, taking my dues.

If you think you can handle that, I might just take you on. Still, be warned. Step into the darkness… and you don’t know what you might find.

(He steps back out of the light and vanishes soundlessly into the shadows, leaving nothing but a lingering ghost of cigarette smoke and the memory in your mind.)
