It was a very intelligent post and I found myself agreeing with it very strongly, in spite of never giving the issue any real thought. Thank you for it. show less

I never “write” my forum posts, and probably would’ve spent a little more effort or thought if I knew it was going to be mailed off to representatives! I am glad I could inspire you, and hopefully there is enough people that feel this way that maybe we can make some headway. Watchdog groups really only make up a minority, and I have always wondered why it isn’t easier to overthrow the politically correct system. show less

Jan 10, 2011 3:17pm You posted a link to a YouTube video of a speech Obama gave a while back that pointed toward him being atheist, but I cannot seem to find it. Could send it to me? Thanks.

This means that he has an understanding of religion as personal allegory and inspiration instead of a literalistic all-encompassing rule book for life. I have begun to refer to this affectionately as Tribalism. I have grown up around churches and religion that have informed my life and choices while never personally believing in the literal interpretations that seem so important for the majority. This tribalism might be comparable to the early founding fathers’ deism, but isn’t exactly analogous. This means he could be either be a subjective theist or an atheist, but it is irrelevant to the objective masses to which he agrees with all of the same morals and cultural values associated to religion. This video helps to illustrate my point more clearly [Ignore the title]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE55I_nf2J4 show less

Its just, well, you asked such a broad question, in order to answer it properly, I’m looking at a dissertation-level paper, wordage of around 5k+. I don’t mind doing the work, if I’m going to get serious responses back. Its just lately, this forum is more full of trolls and immature wotsits than anything else. As to the ‘empire of consumption’, here’s a nasty little titbit for you. If you subscribe to Kuezweil’s work and theories, we have passed the point of no return for our civilisation. That is to say, there are not enough resources left for a civilisation after us, to rise beyond our current level. They could possibly equal us with a ceramics tech based society, but that’s it. Essentially, this is our one-shot chance. If we fail to develop beyond a single planet civilisation this time round, we’ll never have another chance. show less

Though that could just be because I don’t like the kind of implications that come from it, like this one! Better for my sanity to turn blind eyes towards certain things. Anyway, this is certainly a scary thought. You’d have to have a stronger faith in humanity than I do on most days to be optimistic about that idea, I think.show less

Just noticed your comment here, Bomb. Its not that I have great faith in humanity, but titbits like that inspire me to put more oomph into my efforts.

I can and do still use a walker when necessary, but usually it’s just not feasible. Even at full speed I might make it down the block in a day :-D It works inside of other people’s houses fine enough though. I’m still quite mobile even though the scoliosis and arthritis are catching up. show less

Needless to say, I’m working on fixing it. FB can’t figure out how it keeps getting infected. I’ve changed the passwords several times and deleted all of the malicious apps, but they think the attacker auto-logs into the account once its activated and changes the password and re-instates all of its control. Yay! I might end up making a new account. show less

Nov 19, 2009 4:29pm You know, I just noticed this, but on Mar 13, 2009 8:23am you quoted PMR, but it shows up as attributed to me in your post in republican Nationalism. Not that it matters now, just a “wait what?” moment.
