I finished the hard badge so I could adequately describe how bad the game is. Interaction is terrible. You get to close to the end of a platform and you just slide off. You slip across all the platforms and especially on the ice ones, which are completely unnecessary. The rails don't accurately show where moving platforms will go. Some of them go beyond the rails and some stop before the rail ends. Silly things kill you, like touching the side of the screen. Simply put, the game demands precise movements and gives imprecise controls and bad physics.
Just a fair warning, it took me almost seven hours to get the last badge. After a while, the game just starts to feel tedious. It's a fun idea, but could use a little more story and maybe some mini-games here and there to break the monotony.
Terastas, I love the original game too, and I can see some of your disappointment, but the original also had to use the keyboard if you wanted to use bullet time. I played the game a lot and got used to going without bullet time because I liked using just the mouse. I agree that the first one has better music and a more unique feel to it, but this game isn't that bad.
The first Death vs Monstars is one of my favorite flash games. WHile I liked the music of the first one more, this is an excellent game. I love how the mechanics work. The game is hard enough to be fun, but it isn't so tough that it gets irritating. It's not too much of a grind. I think my only complaint was the rage faces. They kind of detract from the game's originality.
The missions seem way too hard. I feel like the missions should be a stepping stone to get more upgrades, but it is often much easier to just get money and pay off the missions instead. The missions are generally not very fun.
The game isn't bad, but I found it a bit annoying. I am always put off by games that use 'u,' 'lol,' or emoticons in dialog. It just seems out of place. The controls are a bit unruly, and I felt like the game was designed to kill me even when it wasn't my fault. I don't think you should make death the punishment when teaching a new mechanic, like the grapple hook. And it was sometimes hard to tell what would instant kill me and what would only cause damage. So, bombs only hurt me, but a spinning hammer is death?
Initially, I gave this game four stars because the writing was so good. But I've had to rate it lower because of the energy limitation. I can only play for about five minutes before my energy runs out. It's impossible to get anywhere in the story when I have to fight more than twenty monsters that cost 25-45 energy to battle. I don't necessarily mind grinding, but let me play the game. :( This game has so much potential....
Ok, this has to be some of the best writing I've seen in any game on Kongregate. The imagery is vivid and sometimes disturbing. The vocabulary is heads and tails above many games made by major producers. At first I found the amount of text to be a bit tedious, but once I actually started reading it, I was amazed by how well it is written. The protagonist isn't some perfect hero, as he/she is pretty brutal in some instances. And he intentionally says inspiring things to increase his renown.
I am a little turned off by the energy limitation. The energy keeps me from playing more than a few minutes at a time. But the writing keeps me far more interested than many of the other energy driven games.
So, this game froze up on me. I had just bought machine guns for a couple more guys and everything stopped working. The music is going and my main character can still move around, but everything else stopped: the other characters and all the money is frozen.
I hate games like this. Games that rely on luck are obnoxious enough, but add grinding to luck and you get a heaping pile of frustration. The lack of skill involved is absurd. On a round where I get zero power smashes, I manage to go almost 600 K feet. On a round with 5 or 6 power smashes, I go less than 200 K.
Well, kupo707, color me impressed. I don't think I have ever played a shooter that mixed things up so much. I've never seen such a variety of bullet patterns, and it kept things interesting. It didn't feel like I was just grinding so I could get money for more power ups. And I loved all the colors. I liked how each character was noticeably different, and some worked better in certain levels. My only complaint would be that sometimes money made it hard to see where the bullets were, especially on bosses. Maybe if you could make the money invisible when a certain number of bullets is on the screen.
You know, I am really glad you have to get to level 80 on survival for the hard badge. I mean, it wasn't already hard to get A rank on 20 normal levels and then beat the four bonus level.....(/sarcasm)
I just didn't find this to be a ton of fun. It was ok, but it got old really fast. Many flash games I can do in one sitting. This one I had to stop multiple times because I got so bored after a level or two. I like that the game is something new, but it was too repetitive for my tastes.
It was ok. I liked the idea, but the controls seemed like a crapshoot for me. Sometimes my gravity thing just couldn't stop any of the meteors. Especially at the part where I was supposed to kill the alien ships.
