I’m polyamorus, a lesbian, and proud of it. Other than that, I’m going to fill this section with quotes reflecting my views or views I sympathize with, through others eyes.

" "Sure, but what assholes like you mean when you say you’ve been friend-zoned is “This bitch won’t let me put my penis in her even though I’ve treated her like a HUMAN BEING” ""

" “Traditional” marriage as we see it today has existed in this country for at most 40-50 years. I’m not sure why people gloss over that little fact so neatly. Throughout human history marriage has commonly been a polygamous, involuntary, arranged agreement in which the women had absolutely no say. Marital rape has only been illegal in all 50 US states since 1993. Birth control has only been legal since 1965. Up until the 20th century women were considered legal minors to their husbands, who had nearly absolute control over their wives’ bodies, property, rights, and sexuality. So THIS is the “tradition” they are defending? If we all want a world filled with people who are together because they love each other, and who stay together because they are happier together, then we should stop pretending that that model is any other than a modern idea based on human rights and equality, and we should stop trying to limit who can practice it."

" first person: I would never stand by while someone was bullied or assaulted for being gay. I’d never tolerate snarky remarks from one colleague about another’s sexuality. I’d let my children play at the home of a friend with two gay parents as readily as I would if the parents were heterosexual. I’d be a good neighbor, shovel their walks, watch out for their home, and babysit their children.

But I believe marriage is between a man and a woman.

=========

2nd Person: Marriage is an honor. It conveys a superior status to a relationship, declaring it a family, and stating that it is good. I appreciate your tolerance and civility. You’re better than most. Still, something inside you sees us and says that we cannot be good, that we aren’t a family. I don’t expect you to understand. "

“I could say that I am against intereligious marriage, because the children would be “confused” and be teased in school. I could say that I am against inter-racial marriage because “god separated the races onto different continents, and he obviously doesn’t want us mixing.” These were arguments given in courts, and in the legislature. They are well documented.
By the same token, I could say I’m against same sex marriage for a number of reasons, but I could not honestly say any of these arguments without also being an ignorant bigot.
If they want to oppose Same sex marriage on religious grounds, then they need to first, have a religion that actually defines marriage consistently, as a union between one man and one woman. The abrahamic faiths do not do this. Meaning christians don’t have a leg to stand on, religiously. They would also have to get rid of the first amendment, guaranteeing a free practice of religion to everybody.
If you want to state that primary purpose of marriage is for procreation, then you must make it illegal for sterile individuals to marry, and invalidate existing marriages when one person is found to be incapable of having children, for any number of reason. Only if you don’t want to be a hypocrite, I mean.
There is no legitimate, defensible, constitutional argument against same sex marriage. The only remaining arguments are subjective, and often quite ignorant of cultural and religious history. Sorry sir, you actually ARE a bigot."

“To love someone is to not be afraid to let people help you. Also, you can be there for someone even while recognizing that they don’t need to be “saved” by you.
To love someone is to love them for everything they are, the good and the bad. Also, you don’t need to understand everything about someone to love and support them.
To love someone is to trust that they can be strong.
To love someone is to let them completely into your heart.
To love someone is to work to make your relationship work, through good times and bad."

“It is not enough to say “I will not be evil.” Evil must be fought wherever it is found"

“Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.”→
“To say that nothing is true, is to recognize that the
foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the
shepherds of our own civilization. To say that everything is
permitted, is to understand that we are the architects of our
actions, and that we must live with their consequences,
whether glorious or tragic.”

“You think my Way is broken because it has no morality? You are mistaken. Part of my Way is to never hide behind the Divine, but to stand on my own, for what is right and just. Refusing to allow another to determine for you, never standing behind another’s skirt like a child, that is my Way. I do not define my morals by the will of the Gods, and I would even stand against Them if they commanded evil. Can you say the same?”

“And I would urge you to look at those people who tell you, at your age, that you’re dead until you believe as they do. What a terrible thing to be telling to children.

And that you can only live by accepting an absolute authority.

Don’t think of that as a gift, think of it as a poisoned chalice. Push it aside however tempting it is, take the risk of thinking for yourself; much more happiness, truth, beauty and wisdom will come to you that way."

-Christopher Hitchens"

(friends will know what this one means, and i’ve my own reasons for putting it here)
“Simple, the more I relive it, the easier it is to cope with.”

“for example people often say “don’t walk home alone” and yet many women have been raped by men who walked home with them; people say “wear conservative clothing” and yet I doubt there is a type of clothing in existence that a woman hasn’t been raped whilst wearing.

The point here is that saying “She shouldn’t have put herself in that position” is meaningless. It’s just intended to make everyone else feel better about the situation at the expense of the truth."
