How can you talk about hacking and in the same sentence say you want to see a non-hacker (Tasselfoot in this case) come up with realistic scores, when that person hacks their badges… don’t believe me?

Adding as a friend and taking 3 games at random shows a lot of errors that don’t show up when comparing to other players. Heres some examples.

Note:
The IMP badge is for 24 missions completed.
Several missions require game completion and four missions require scoring a certain amount before death.
Hiscore is submitted as soon as you die, whether you continue or not, so the highest score you ever attained is recorded.

Note:
Everybody that has played has at least some diamonds except Tasselfoot who mysteriously is the only player with none. It looks like he neglected to edit one of the hiscores.

Of course he can always retroedit those hiscores to cover his tracks, but hey thats ok he already saved a lot of “work” by hacking those badges in the first place. Why am I bothered? because hackers that hack multiplayer games are the worst.

I try to fire back as soon as I see them, or else I know I’ll forget :P

It’s sad that tournaments have devolved into hacking contests, but I intend to use it, at the very least, as a more organized way to game against a few friends and get a little more involved in the community :) It’d be nice to get admin support, since they could actually find out about the hacking (I think…) but they’re just too busy to organize tournaments. It’d be a lot of work, I think.

I don’t mean to say that all competition games are based on dodging or blocking, I simply ran out of examples :P It’s just nice to see a game that calls for a little bit of thinking. Not a ton, but just a bit. Anyway, the overall point I’m trying to make is that I just want to see the people in the tourney having fun. I simply felt like your post was rather negative among the others, that’s all. If you have a problem with the organizers, whisper them, but I’d rather not see people complaining about the system publicly. Let them handle your issues privately :)

It’s not supposed to be about out-hacking one another. It’s supposed to be a competition for legitimate gaming skills, and the demonstration as such. There are certainly people who will hack, because they choose to defeat the entire spirit of the game, but then why play tournaments at all? Those people will always exist, you can’t really fault the organizers for it. The game selection is really up to the organizers, and they can choose whichever games they want. You want to be in the tourney, you’re submitting yourself to their judgment. There’s more brainwork to the game than simple memorization, though that’s a part of it as well. It takes a bit of logic to figure out the fastest path to get everything done, like chaining all the numbers together.

I actually mentioned it, but it was only half a paragraph. Heh. But I totally agree — a briefing would have been fine to me. I mean, if you’re going to present the terrorist you’re supposed to be after, and then completely forget about him and never see him again for the rest of the game. . . Why even have the level? The whole thing reeks of controversy and using it to drum up sales. Removing the level and putting just text or voice-over to explain would have had equal effect to the game as a whole. :/
