Excellent storytelling, stunning graphics, and a truly touching message about human nature. I really feel like I watched the characters grow as I progressed through the story, and the final boss battle nearly brought a tear to my eye with how emotionally stirring it was. Add that to the classical and Shakespearian allusions expertly spliced into the narrative, and it really becomes clear that the author of this game is both a gentleman and a scholar. A lot of people berate modern gaming for being too "casual", but every now and then an incredible piece such as this comes along and shows that games can truly be considered a form of art. 5/5 breddy gud.
I've had problems where the game runs too fast on new computers. All of the projectiles, enemies, and animations are extremely quick, making most levels unplayable. perhaps an adjustment to the FPS in order to reflect the newer computer models? this is a rather old game, after all.
very interesting game. the concepts of building you character as you progress and slowly uncovering a dark backstory have been done before (the "Robot Wants ___" series and Being One, respectively), but they have never been combined in this way. the fun gameplay and pixelised graphics make this a very unique and enjoyable game. it's a little dark for my taste, in fact the "too late" written in the walls was a bit creepy. despite the creep-factor, a very good game. keep up the good work! 5/5
A great game, but wtf is up with the "demo" thing? is kong not worthy of the full game? this "demo" thing inhibits the entire "online" aspect of the game. Forcing us to play offline is just stupid. kongregate is based around the aspect of gamers coming together to play fun games created by other people. you don't seem to understand that. so i hope you have fun using this game to get hits on your website, but the kongregate community and i are not impressed. 1/5
This game had so much potential. I played it soon after it came out, and it was great. Good gameplay and graphics, cool people online, and fun times. But now i come back about a year later and it wont even connect me to the game. thats not cool. I guess you could ignore this review, considering i haven't even been able to see the new version, but oh well. perhaps a few connection fixes, server moderation, and perhaps answering the many comments this game has recieved would bring up its rating. until then, 1/5.
a good game, but it still could use some improvement. Although the RPG elements are nice, it sorta turns into a grindfest, considering most items are insanely expensive. It's also not very good when 90% (yes im just pulling that statistic out of thin air) of the players just camp to get coins and exp. There should also be more staggering of item costs. I hate when all the players on a team use the same weapon (cough uzi cough). It takes all the strategy and variety out of the game. Nice job on the maps though. Although sometimes its hard to tell what's in the background as opposed to the actual terrain, the maps are extremely beautiful. They really capture the essence of a post-apocalyptic warzone. All in all, a very nice and unique game, but it could use some improvement in the RPG elements. 3/5
Overall, not one of my favorite games. First, where did the sound go? you can have a shakespearian play animated in MS paint but if you put it to some awful techno music its awful. A good analogy for this game is a beautiful painting hung in a disco hall. I also don't like how people can mod popular games and then get credit as being game developers. The gameplay is copied, so i don't have a comment for that, but the design elements are rather well-made, so this deserves a few points for that. Overall, i don't usually like these games, but this one caught my attention. 3/5.
A fitting sequel for a great top-down shooter game. I like that this game, unlike EW1 and 2, adds new weapons and gameplay mechanics (other than taking out the dead, half-naked ladies from the map). However, the campaigns were much shorter than I would have liked, and the group battles still mainly consist of hiding until the AIs finish killing each other. The new nations are great, though, and I like how you play the battles that no other game has really touched before. The Soviet-Finnish war is one i have a particular interest, and i was rather pleased at the sight of the VKT as a weapon choice. But that's just me. Anyway, keep up the good work! 5/5 this game if you want badges!
Great game Urbs. It definitely improved on the MaB1's mistakes (eg: lack of unit control, poor graphics, etc.). It does take a while to get the hang of it, but once you do, it turns into one of the best WWII command games i have ever played. I also like the concept of "War is not fair.", whereas other games of this type throw hundreds of soldiers at you with AI tactics a cat could outsmart. This game has depth, in it's units, terrain, and enemies. It really captures the aspect of an outmanned and outgunned squad defending against waves of german attack. Despite a few gameplay flaws (american grenades are about as powerful as cherry bombs, whereas a single german grenade can decimate your squad.), this game is simply great. cant wait for MaB3. 5/5
A truly great game. Political satire-ish games like this are hard to come by. But out of all the ones i have seen, this is by far the best designed and written of them. It has intelligent humor, instead of "OMG CHUCK NORIS FIGT RAPTUR JESUS!". I particularly like that you play the game from a rather moderate perspective on issues today, rather than a person who spends his/her time bashing a specific group (see Bieber Bottle Bash). It also has unique design aspects, such as the lack of levels, other than a single platform. It is blazing a trail of new parody-type games, and i am really quite amazed at how much depth a game can have with only one level design and a few dozen characters.I've heard you made a sequel but i haven't seen it on kong yet. can't wait. 5/5
I like the concept of this game. It isn't simply another hack-and-slash where you get the best upgrades and win the game automatically. IMHO, the goal is to get all the awards (hence the last badge), which is challenging, but not insanely hard like other games of this type. I also like the use of character enhancements rather than overpowered weapons. This adds a sense of continuity to the game, rather than camping on level one until you have enough money for the death sword of ultimate destruction. It makes the character seem like a not-so-ordinary exterminator hired to cleanse areas of some alien infestation. However, a story mode would be nice, and you don't really get the feeling of an alien hive by just hacking through green blobs for half an hour. possibly some new maps, rather than a box with a few different backgrounds? Other than that, the game is flawless in design, unique in concept, and really damn fun. 5/5
