Thanks for the great comments. The main reason the features are not terribly robust or extensive (no pause or mute, etc) is because this is the polished up version of my first Flash experimentation and I never had a great desire to back and retrofit those features. I've worked on it off and on since I started learning the program. Each project I work on gets better and more efficient. I'm glad you guys enjoy it and perhaps someday I'll actually rework it to include some better features.

New version of the game available now. I am still working out the bugs, but I have made some important changes: 1) "P" now pauses, "Q" now quits. 2) A "skip" option is now available for the intro scene. 3) the difficulty has been reduced by requiring only 6 stars to complete a level (12 are still required for the save star).

... oh and I added some basic volume control (look in the upper right of the screen).

As a Flash newb/amateur, I don't know what is causing that problem. I see the same thing when I run IE. However, if you still want to play the game, you can find it on my personal site -- www.distractionbeast.com. It runs in a pop-up window and seems to work fine for me in IE. Give it a shot.

It has been uploaded twice because of a data glitch that seems to be mixing up my game with another one uploaded by someone else. I am communicating with Kongregate about it, but in the meantime, I just uploaded the game under a different name.

I second the previously stated notion. I HIGHLY recommend adding a map feature. I also recommend that the "tutor" creatures very clearly display the behavior you learn from them. This will help the player to remember where they are. Great game! Simple and addictive!

Thanks for all of the comments, positive and negative. I have made a minor update as time has allowed. As for glitches and crashes, I will look into each one as I experience them. I apologize for any such performance issues, but I can only fix what I can see and I have not recreated those bugs yet. I'll keep looking.
