for all those who didn't know it, the box on the right hand side under neath the name of the current level both shows how far you are and lets you switch between levels.
it felt as though it could have been a console game back int 8-bit era. what it really needs, is to replace these stages with some actual levels.actual lengthy levels that need both strategy and skill to complete, with a few checkpoints put in. that would be something extraordinary.
once your moving you can't stop until you hit a wall. can't jump unless your standing still. is this the way it is supposed to be? if not, this game is broken for linux.
the concept is a nice area yet to be explored fully, although the challenges presented in the demo rely more on sense of timing than a skill or intelligence based difficulty.
the music collection leaves nothing lacking with some wonderful compositions.
controls could use a bit of work, found left and right a little sensitive.
in regards to having to purchase the rest of the game, flash is not a good medium to program in. in the first level there was a glitch where the character would be trapped having the moving platform inserted into his waist. if this games was developed in a C variant or in java, it might be worth pursuing.
this demo would be a 3.5 in my books.
I can understand not saving the bonuses, nut could you at least let us save the gold? I was at the 950 mark when the power failed. that's just f*****g evil.
dammit! my farms aren't produceing food because they don't have energy. and I'm not generating energy because I don't have any food! how do I get out of a loop like this???
the concept was first put out in an old arcade game(shield drone, I believe) although this is implemented much more efficiently and with a different scoring system. I would call this game unique, as far as it goes. 4/5
by level 15, there is nothing new, and difficulty doesn't increase that much. more of an endurance game at that point.
some tips:
clicking really fast with single shot can be faster than burst, and doesn't use any ammo.
use shotgun for fighting swarms of weak enemys, and shooting caterpillars from above.
the round balls can jump almost as high as your double jump, but they bounce. use this to your advantage.
after grenades are upgraded a bit, it only takes one to destroy one of the big bugs. save your ammo for the swarm thats released.
grenades can kill flying bugs directly over top of the explosion.
grenades will bounce when launched, so take that into consideration when aiming.
if your looking for experiance, go for riders as many and as fast as you can. here is a "exp point per mana point" chart
riders
0.1 (highest)
helicopter
0.04
eagle
0.03
panzer
0.02
dragon
0.01(lowest)
fully upgraded riders are also more powerful and cheaper than upgraded dragons, just with less health.
