This is so ridiculous. Hexcelle and Hexcelle: Arena are gems of games. Unpolished gems, that's for sure, but gems they are. It's so wrong that they get so damned little recognition from the masses. They should be on the front page, Archigeek should be getting a deal to release his game on Steam or the PSN. Why is this game so damned unpopular? Hit the plus button if you agree.
Btwguys, you can mark squares you haven't uncovered with the left and right arrow keys (or A and D). Hover over a square with your mouse and hit the right key to mark it going up from 2 to 5. Hit left to mark it going down from 5 to 2.
That this is your first time programming anything, Flash games included, is frankly pretty hard to believe. This game is stellar in every way; it's one of the best games on Kong. Five stars.
If advice is what you're looking for, the only complaint I can really levy against it is the lack of a pause button, or better yet, an auto-pause function that triggers when the game loses focus, be it from a pop-up or clicking on something else. It can be frustrating to come just shy of a high score or a badge and lose it because I needed to do something that couldn't wait.
Surprise meter is frustrating. Bomb rain is picked too often, and there's not a lot you can to to get past it. Also, bombs should have a bigger chain radius, so you can create bigger chains and clear more bombs. But, other than that, it's fine. 4/5.
