Instead of bitching about the issues with Modern Tactics 4, I will politely offer some constructive criticism, because I think the game was well made, but lacked many of the finer points that A.) could have been there easily, or B.) were present in the previous game but not in this one.

First of all, I found the equipment system to be extremely confusing. It took me a while to figure out that I need to unlock every gun not by leveling up but by luck at the ends of missions and by making mad rushes to manually pick up exotic new weapons.

Also, bring back the squad system from MT 3, where you can have huge teams of up to ten. That is not particularly essential, however. What I would like to see is the revival of the unlockable upgrades, attachments, and so forth. MT 4 lacked the satisfaction in custom characters that MT 3 had.

Now, a third point I would like to make is about the combat engine. You seem to have retrograded somewhat. First of all, I found that enemy troops had a huge advantage over the player. They had more and more health over the course of player level-ups, while you never had increased health. So, enemies could walk up and kill a player soldier in one turn without anything to be done by the player losing a man.

I was also disappointed that you have only one clip of ammunition. Make the ammo supply realistic per mag, and have each gun have a set number of reloads available.

Also, if I didn’t say this before, bring back the equipment section of the customization. In addition, make the weapon+attachment system more complex. Allow the use of bare weapons with their stats, as well as the choice of attachments on those weapons to add different upgrades.

So, if I have an M-4 with a free tactical rail on top, I should be able to add a reflex sight and increase my accuracy.

Hey, you should fix some of the stuff people are saying in the comments. I also think mt4 was such a big dissapointment was because it was so similiar to knights tactics. I gotta say, kight tactics wasn’t too great. Since people really liked mt3, I think it would have been better to make it more like mt3, and add more feutures. I think you should work on a mt 3.5 or something.

I’m also working on a new tactics game at the same time called Medieval Tactics. It has a good story line and will be a great game.
