MTG (new owners of Kong) wasted their investment by killing the most valuable part. I (and many people from Kong) use Discord. Please connect.
Discord: solprovider#6899

Kongregate became available to the public in January 2007. I found Kongregate by August 2007. I registered on June 11, 2008 when my favorite game “Monsters’ Den: Book of Dread” had a time-limited Challenge rewarding a Kongai card. I was still level 2 on December 4, 2008 when I started playing daily. December 26, 2008 was the first day of constant chatting – would be several years before I missed a day. I was on 24 hours every day for next few months, spent January putting out flames, February teaching children to chat nicely, March encouraging adults to register (because they wanted to join conversations.)

The Administrators invited me to be a Mod on April 28, 2009. I was a wandering Mod named “pdomino” from May 4, 2009 to June 17, 2009. On my first Kong Day Jun. 11, 2009, I chatted with the original/current Room Owner “damijin” who gave the room “The Van” to me. On June 17, I became owner of The Van.

I moved to Pride on March 1, 2010. I chatted constantly until 2014, when poor design changes to Kongregate initiated the sharp decline in community, immediately obvious to me. Within a year, the decline was obvious to everybody when instead of the annual addition of 20 English chatrooms, 30 English rooms were removed (which became the new annual tradition.) Since 2014, I logged in every day to receive “Badge of the Day”, check Messages, and occasionally play and chat. Those activities ended with the death of Kong in August 2020.

I very much wish I was allowed to save Kongregate. I hoped to transform this website into the social center of the Internet. I even planned for Kongregate Web Games to survive the inevitable death of Adobe Flash. Circumstances never aligned.

The current owner is a “digital entertainment company” who believes Kongregate is best as “Yet Another Game Developer” (3 year half-life) rather than the powerful global community Kongregate was and should be. If the owner was not determined to kill the community, the decline could easily be reversed. Most Internet companies are desperate to have a growing community. Maintaining the social aspects of Kong costs nothing as an appendage of any other modern company. The website had great value until MTG destroyed the community, which moved to Discord trying to survive a bit longer.

May Kongregate rise again.
