This is very difficult. The skill needed to never touch the UP arrow takes more patience than any ADD gamer can learn. After starting a match, I suggest turning off the monitor, maybe go for a walk or nap. The more spiritual can use this time to pray, which might affect the results more positively than anything else a player can do. P.S. To the dev, leave the "modifiers" on the screen during each match, no reason to remove them, and reduces annoyance when player forgot or could not read them in the one second they currently appear
Refresh for the survival Medium Badge. After grinding through the entire story, the Continue button did not work after Survival runs, and constant attempts for five hours scored 300-380. After refreshing, my first two attempts scored 476 and 511 due to twice as many coins appearing. Keep troops away from the edges to not lose coins from enemies killed offscreen; I survived longer, but collected fewer coins when my troop were too close to the left edge. Keep all troops on the left half so the bees arriving from the right edge attack the enemy.
31 rather easy KISS with no powerups.
Coins for improving score is bad design; use all money and waste time to get worst score on first attempt to leave room for improvement.
Powerups not remaining unlocked is evil.
Both Badges require "Ultimate Survival" mode. This critical information is not mentioned below the game; see the ACHIEVEMENTS tab. The guide linked in the game is for Thing-Thing 2, not Thing-Thing Arena 2. Change weapons by pressing E, as seen on the correct guide at: http://www.crazymonkeygames.com/guide/Thing-Thing-Arena-2/
For most levels, build flat ground just above the water level to build large towns; when the enemy reaches you, switch to Fight and use Fire spells on the enemy towns, then return to building flat ground. For lvl 19, build straight down to the island, then to the right, and back up; may need to call to a Waypoint; when a path reaches the totem, run for it. For lvl 29, build high and use the last Water spell. For lvl 30, Pause and Resign Island to get the Badge; you can win by building high and using the final Water spell several times, but the game freezes when you win.
The Easy is not for YOUR first skin; it is for THE first skin on level 7. Wait for the door to open and then enter. The Hard is for not dying on ANY 72 levels so replace difficult levels with easy Fan levels. Unlock Fan levels by clicking the bird and "f" icons and immediately close the window that opens. Do not worry much about bolts; if levels 70-72 do not unlock (180 bolts?), do more Fan levels. I replaced levels 30, 42, 71 with 73, 75, 77. For Stats, click the 2 in upper left to see levels after 60.
Missing Instructions: Speed counts for combos. Not total time for level; just from first space to Finish. A delay between spaces breaks the combo. For best score, follow entire path using the most spaces without losing the combo. Hold the mouse button down except the rare situations needing to pass over available spaces. Even Start spaces are activated by the pressed mouse button; can hold the mouse button before rolling over the first Start.
Go for Speed Run Badge first. Get Speed as every upgrade. Got 3:51 being somewhat careful for the alternating mines. And scored 7784. Speed helps score more than Allies and Shields. For final, start by pressing X for a moment, then hold C. Run around edge except when trying to reach red mine or ally bonus. When gain a new ally, release and hold C again.
The Badge says use Single Duel; do not. Use Custom Deck, set Opponent's Level to Archmage, and create a deck. I spammed Peacekeeper (Chaos) with Turtles and Trolls to survive early. When 10+ Fire, close slots with Phoenix. Stone Rain cleans the board. Meditation helps. Win with Armageddon as your first Fire card. Also need Sea Sprite, Lightning Bolt, and Dragon until getting achievement. Ignore Win 5(and 10)-in-a-row and no Earth cards.
WARNING: Do not chat while dead. As soon as a game pauses, I'm checking Kong Chat. A common cause of the pause is because I died. If I type in the chat box while the Game Over screen is being displayed, none of the game buttons work. Then the only remedy is to refresh the browser. To avoid this bug, continue the game, then click Help to pause it.
If you have difficulty getting the Hard: 1. Get a slower computer. Makes a huge difference. 2. Watch MrFugasi's YouTube video. Watch a wave, play the wave, really helps to know where and when the creeps are arriving. I placed the towers slightly lower (at the center intersection) than he did, except for the wave where you want to kill the bomb creeps manually. Watch the whole wave to check if the towers need to be moved during the wave.
Finally won at 2:54:66 (from pole 8) with 2nd at +0:00:20. I kept knocking the other car out at the corners, then it would catch me and repeat. (I had just gotten pole 2, then Kong switched games before I could race. Maybe refreshing the page helped.)
@NGII: I had the control lag in FF. Switched to Opera and it disappeared. Still have the rare "controls completely stop working" so that's in the game, but the lag is likely the browser. Most of the game is grind-for-upgrades, but track 12 requires skill and has changing goals. I was 4th when 1st was 2:57, then I got 2nd with 2:57 and first was 2:54. Now 1st is 2:53:33.
Take care discarding Eggs; bug discards first Monster Egg disregarding which was clicked. Graphics are buggy; armor disappears; ground often wrong. If you need an item, keep playing, will appear eventually. Ignore magic and long range weapons; upgrade STR and stock Berry potions. Vulcan needs fast pet set to Aggresive attacking rear. "Had to make sure I let good warriors stock through the gate." Click second map on http://guidology.com/2011/05/03/castaway-2-crafting-guide/
I usually comment about poor design and programming like no reset button and offers becoming less frequent the longer the game is played, but this game fails at the concept level. Trading games are easy to create and very difficult to make fun. If prices are mostly random, the game will be bad. High Tea manages to make other games in this genre look good. Offers appear randomly so the game can be lost without one offer (happened to me.) Tea needs to be bought constantly since the fastest purchase rate is too slow to fill the final orders. Refresh often, and pray to the RNG. (Yes, I developed the guide for Pandemic 2, which is much less dependent on the RNG than High Tea.)
WARNING: The game does not save your progress. And takes forever. While each level is quick, there are at least 63 levels. (I reached 7:5 when I had to leave.) DO NOT CLOSE THE GAME until you get the Badge, or don't start until the dev fixes the saves.
Very poor example of the launcher genre with nothing new, bad programming, and inconsistent controls constantly switching between mouse and keyboard - seems an experiment whether good backgrounds help ratings. Cannot return to the menu without refreshing. Browser freezes if launch is bad. Play is mostly luck with no visibility of the objectives. In-game achievements don't work on first play, refresh after completing game once. Awards can be achieved after the story ends. Received 100 Space Stars award long before the 30 Space Stars award. The timed awards are not needed to reach 15 for the Medium Badge. Hard Badge appeared after refreshing. Just keep playing while waiting for the other Badges.
Total 1173 merging highest level scores for Adrokila, Azuki, Lewellyn, perolo, Physcher, and me - 1:12+23+21 2:21+16+17 3:40+32+44 4:15+23+22 5:10+13+19 6:17+17+29 7:16+15+20 8:31+27+16 9:20+29+16 10:24+48+27 11:24+38+26 12:38+47+50(38) 13:30+26+45(36) 14:30+33+24 15:16+34+32. The two () are more reasonable. Each unused piece scores 3; cannot be any remaining to end level. Open "Fin" to receive the Hard Badge.
