A fuller game, where you get to actually use the mail feature, where you get to perform missions and buy cool things from some sort of shop, where you have different levels that have some differences between them and some creativity to them (why should a phone and a computer look the same? At least make the levels look different or something - so it's not the same level over and over, but harder!) Once again, I think the game "Smoking Kills" (another Flash game on this website) had something like that - look to that for inspiration, maybe. All of this is just a suggestion, of course. To sum it all up, I think this game has some charm and a lot of potential behind it, but at the moment it feels a bit repetitive and unfinished. I'd love to see the concept behind this expanded into a full-fledged game! (4/4)

Hey man, i really appreciate your series of reviews. I can see that you put a lot of work into them and come up with suggestions. Its really cool to get some insight from a fellow developer who probably has a lot more developing experience then myself. As a small developer just starting up , a review like yours is just the boost of encouragement I need to keep working on this project. Ill be responding to all of these reviews starting here. Review 1: Thanks for the review! I can see how people feel this was about this game and I will be working to improve the "repetitiveness" behind it and ill try to make the levels different. Also this game is in a early version, and i will try to add some things that will make it feel like a finished game! I really appriciate the feedback!

In short, I kind of like this game because it has a certain charm to it. My suggestion to the developer is to think of a story to it, so you're not just hacking vending machines, then phones, then computers, ATMs, servers, and then... uh, nothing, I guess, since my "current hacking level" after hacking a server was... completely blank, with an icon of a vending machine that I couldn't click, I guess I beat the game? Either way, this game should definitely have a story, where you do some cool black hat hacking stuff (or some approximation of it, anyway, whatever gameplay style you choose to go for) that lives up to the cool intro. I appreciate the review! I will try to make more levels in the future. I also made a mode called survival where it gets harder and its an infinite level. I will also definitely add a story to this game and i am glad that you loved the intro. Note that this game is in early stages and I still have lots to add!

Anyway, here's what I like about this game: first of all, I think the intro is really cool. I don't know if the developer made it himself, but I like it. Second of all, I like the whole terminal thing - the idea that the menu system is some fake OS and you get to hack stuff just by going into the terminal. It hints at a much grander idea and a much more comprehensive game - one with, for example, as another commenter pointed out, maybe a shop system, a story, or even some system of progression. There was, I think, some other game on Kongregate where you had something like that: I think it might have been Smoking Kills. (2/3)

I love your feedback! Yes i did make the intro and I appreciate that you love it! Also thanks for the love on the hackOs idea. I wanted the game to have a very immersive hacking feel! I will definitely be adding a shop in another version, I just wanted to focus on the actual gameplay in my early stages! I felt the same about the whole story idea! i really appreciate the suggestion and ill check that game out!

I kind of like this game, actually. I'm not so fond of the central idea for the gameplay - you control a green square that can shoot a limitless amount of blue squares at moving red squares - thus, the challenge is to move to the right without having a red square spawn on you. There's not really any story to speak of, either - the only thing that resembles a story is the solitary email you get, which I couldn't read; that would be my fault: when the game asked me for my name, it presented me with a GIANT text box, which I proceeded to past the entirety of the "Who is John Galt?" speech into, resulting in my name obstructing a whole bunch of text on the screen whenever it appeared. I soon realized that this game saves your name in some sort of cookie, which means it persists between refreshes - good, I guess, but the game has no "reset" button so I couldn't escape my fate... Thanks for the review. I will be adding some more mechanics to the actual gameplay in the future, like for example: more firewalls and different shooting combos, in which you can buy in the shop with hacking coins... (I may have gave too much away). Anyway, I understand your concern how theres not really a story, and i will also be adding that in the future. The only reason i released the game this early was to see how the community felt about the core gameplay. I understand that there is many bugs. The giant textbox thing i cant do anything about because thats the only textbox that the engine allows. I also didnt think thoroughly about the names, I just intended for people to type their first name and the characters fit. Clealy this was an error on my part and I will be fixing that soon. Thanks. edit: Also if you would like to reset, you can open the url of this game in an incognito window.
