It's pretty stupid but as long as we can see our progress in the scores it is pushing me to have the best rank I can have.
You should actually put a rank ladder in game, because when there will be too much player (you know with the time and accidental playing, all of this...) this will be too hard to be in the best score, so this game will be less attractive.
What am I doing of my life... ? ;-;

Are you flushing to disk on EVERY click? My harddrive is thrashing like mad, but only when I'm clicking.
