It's an interesting concept, but the puzzles don't take full advantage of the mechanics. This results in the game being too easy and kind of boring after a while.
I like how this game improved on the concept and added new mechanics that added increasing complexity to the puzzles. However, this complexity sometimes caused the levels to feel incredibly cluttered. Nevertheless, I liked it.
I remember playing this game when I was younger and liking it. However, this game has aged terribly. It’s incredibly glitchy. I’m sure many of you reading my comments saw some clipping or bizarre movement in the run and swim missions. The graphics are subpar, and the occasional pop-in is distracting. The training missions get repetitive and boring far too quickly.
I'm really not a fan of the level caps locked behind races. This system kills the pace, and forces me to replay the already tedious training missions more than I want to.
The music is decent. I didn't like the training mission or menu music, but I liked the main menu and race theme. It's too bad that an audio glitch replaces the race music with the annoying 15 second loop of the menu music.
The best part of this game was the Scotland skin. It was fun picturing the duck shouting "SCOTLAND FOREVER!!" as distorted bagpipes played over the race.
This game was not enjoyable for me, and I'm probably never touching it again. 1/5
Interesting take on chess. I do have a problem with the initial army set up, and this may be an oversight on the developer's part. I like to use the classic army, but when I play black, the king and queen are switched to where they would be on an actual chess board (as in the king is d8 while the queen is on e8). Could you implement some option to keep classic piece placement on the board to account for either color?
This isn't that great of a game. The controls feel stiff and the lag causes issues with the collision detection. The camera is too zoomed and I've been blindsides by enemies numerous times. The game's short length isn't that much of an issue to me.
I find this to be a really fun puzzle game, albeit a bit inconsistent at times. There isn't an indication when you can or cannot level wrap. I find myself hugging the edge of the screen to see if I can do it or not. Then again, this is a nitpick Part of that inconsistency is probably the fun of figuring things out. Certain puzzles that I wish not to spoil are pretty clever in their execution and how they go away from the norm, but these are one-off puzzles, not reoccurring themes. Another nitpick is with the control. It feels kind of off. Other than that, I still think this is a pretty great game.
This was actually somewhat challenging. The puzzles were well constructed and I felt good about finding the solutions. I can see why this made it into the Best of 2016 quest.
I find this game to be okay. I find it interesting to see your EXP bar double as your health bar, and being hit too many times causes you to level down. However, an interesting gimmick does not make up for the controls of this game. I find them to be way too slippery and imprecise. Just tapping the WASD keys causes the bubble to start zooming in the given direction, and I find this difficult to control. On top of that, there were a few occasions where I let go of a direction, yet kept moving in the same direction without losing speed. Overall, this is a pretty mediocre experience.
After replaying the game, I also noticed that the second to last gimmick (found in level 26) also could have gotten a lot more mileage. Again, an idea that wasn't fleshed out to its fullest potential, but only a minor issue with this game. I still want to stress that I did quite enjoy this game.
I really enjoyed this game and especially loved how the game ramps up in challenge. My only with this game is that just as it is about to fully flesh out the last mechanic that is introduced, the game suddenly ends. There should have been a few more levels using the new mechanic at the end. Otherwise, this is a fantastic puzzle game.
This game seems okay as an action platformer. I found myself sticking to walls way too often. The combat is clunky: I found that whenever I tried using the standard melee attack, the enemy always got in one potshot. There's some odd technical bugs, such as the text boxes showing up for the wrong character, or the running animation of McStabby. However, I did find the level design to be somewhat interesting and the rainbow giraffe laser is cool. Flow could've been improved. For instance, make it so the switches have no transitioning load time to show what block disappeared. Another thing: The 2nd boss wasn't very good. It used a completely new style of gameplay, was too easy, and ended too fast. The music selection is fine, but there should've been more tracks. However, this is still fully functional and I got some enjoyment out of it. The penguin side-quest was really cute.
3/5. There's a lot more you can do with this. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, Jayarmstrong.
