Renting is a great way to lose players... make the weapons super expensive if you want, but it goes against everything I play video games for to lose upgrades for no other reason than to increase replay time.
Thanks for the feedback. We're still in Beta and doing our best to balance the need for profit mechanics (ability for us to put food on our table) against product fun and usability. The 'renting' subject certainly comes up often - so we're paying attention to it. But as we (and others) have pointed out - the current balance makes it extremely easy to earn free tickets (by playing the game) then use those to rent weapons. If you play a few matches a day you'll earn more tickets than you can necessarily use on renting the weapons you want.
Run The blue ship always. Use 4x Laser / Acid / Homing for everything, minus the last guy. Use 4x Split / Plasma / Splash. If you have max upgraded antimatter bombs you can take out the last 1/2 of his health or so without worrying about getting hit while sitting right on top of him.
It's pretty difficult to tell where the track is. Also, take out that announcer voice! I wanted it to shut up about the missiles the whole time. A little indicator on screen would be fine.
I was expecting this game to be terrible, but it's actually pretty decent. @Alkawi, yeah, the computer needs to chill out so I can actually figure out how my dude works. At least offer a practice mode.
The ship's hitbox needs to be tiny (bullet hell style), or the rocks need to actually have big enough gaps to get through later on... As it is after a certain point you just have to die. Even if this game is just about avoidance, you should have some active enemies. Also, the level ups come too often to give a challenge before the sheer volume of rocks just kills you.
The visuals are cool but you need more in the actual gameplay department... Perhaps make the skier actually turn instead of just sliding sideways. Jumps / tricks / different enemies. Something.
A fascinating glimpse into the psyche of America. Kevin's Big Adventure offers piercing satire and poignant commentary on the zeitgeist of the current age.
The upgrades are absurdly priced for how much money you get from enemies. Also, does anything else happen or do they just come at you in the same patterns? Maybe consider having different enemy types that move in different ways. As it is the game is pretty repetitive.
Overall, great game! I'm kind of obsessed w/ retro platformers, and I love the feel of this game.
Couple gripes though -->
I too get a black screen after getting double jump, so I can't go any further as far as I can tell :/
Also, the ability to shoot whilst jumping would be really nice.
Keep up the good work; I can't wait for the full version of this game!
TIPS:
Don't buy anything but lasers or shotguns (even if it doesn't look like it, their DPS is much better than the other guns).
The 300 diamond gun is ridiculously good. It covers the whole screen in fireballs.
