OK, I'd be lying if I said this was the most awesome game ever. But it's probably the most awesome idle-game ever, and I guess it kinda has to be the best anti-idle game ever. And it has the best "more awesome per day" rate of any regularly updated game I've ever seen. :D
I think it's absolutely hilarious to see someone gripe about the game and how we all should have quit by now... and then in the VERY NEXT COMMENT whine for information about bonuses. Happy New Year, Kong -- your users are JUST AS DUMB as they were last year. :(
5/5 for being not just a fun and cute game, but being total whiner bait. Geeze, guys, get a clue: the nightly level loss is a total red herring. You keep all your skills. Nothing else matters. Shut the **** up and enjoy the game.
I was so close to giving this game a 5/5 even though I REALLY hate games that "go meta" like this. I feel they're more twee than actually clever, and I don't enjoy them, but the game seemed to achieve what it set out to do. But after reading the forum I'm afraid it's going to be a 1/5. There were too many places where the puzzles were DRASTICALLY easier with certain hardware, the player was asked to do something inconvenient or impossible (like change clock settings), or things just don't work with certain browsers. Boo, hiss. And am I right in seeing that you encrypted all the passwords to say "the password" on the hint forum? That's kind of a cheap move, especially given the above issues. Anyone who was stuck on ONE puzzle due to browser issues had the right, IMHO, for one measly password. Yeah, 1/5, sorry, valiant effort but too much design sleaze.
Hooray, it sucks on purpose so it's kinda cool that it's not very good! Man, this was so much cooler than playing a cool game! Can you believe how awesome this was at being the total crap it set out to be?
YAY INTERNET CATCH PHRASE GOES HERE!
Dear Christ this game is noisy. I'm sure it will be completely awesome once I've reinstalled Flashmute, but... c'mon designers, can we get some volume sliders in our games? Music ON/OFF doesn't cut it if you're still gonna shout at us.
OK, yeah. If you can't get the hang of this game, there are some great strategy guides out there. For epic bosses, use Mana Pool as often as you possibly can -- the "X mana to banish" number is how much mana damage a boss will do when it hits your tower. You'll almost always need to let an epic boss go thru twice. Make sure you have some good cyan and purple gems; make sure you're arranging your towers in a tight formation that cover a lot of the path, with a lot of trenches.
There's no shame in not being awesome your first time out. But if you're actually *bitching* about this game because it's "too hard," instead of learning how to play, you're a loser. I am not a hard core gamer and I didn't have a lot of trouble once I beat my first epic.
This game gets the "most improved" award for 2008. *grin* Beast Wars 1 was meh, but I played it and kinda had fun. Beast Wars 2 is showing some actual depth, like interesting combos and an actual need for tactics. There are still annoying flaws -- the difficulty level seems to go up and down just crazily, and it's easy for an early mistake to screw you up for hours -- but at this rate Beast Wars 3 could be one of the best Flash RPGs ever.
Also, kids, if you're gonna say something sucks and give it a 1/5, you should probably at least make some pitiful attempt to convince us of why. Otherwise sound like you're just in a snit 'cause you failed. :(
Loved it. Only thing I didn't really like was the music -- and just 'cause it was so repetitive! A whole soundtrack by that artist instead of one song over and over would've been awesome.
Frustrating and awesome. Had a hell of a time on psychic until I beat the game with the other classes. Love that this game is all about skill and timing. Would be even more awesome with better AI, or god help us, multiplayer! Also, dumb kids can't spell "psionic" and that's super-hilarious. Sequel please please.
Very flawed. The "classes" aren't well-balanced -- and I hate the whole "reptile = evil" stereotype. :p The combat system really needs more variety. The bravery system's kinda useless 'cause running away doesn't even let you skip a fight. I won by almost ignoring weapons and stocking up on healing potions. Big yawner.
