This worked fine for me this morning but now it is freezing at 21% load. Using IE8, I don't have the option to upgrade or change browsers so please don't suggest that.
Two bugs I noticed: when I hit my Ultimate Smash right as I hit something that grabbed and threw me (I think it was the things that put you in eggs and spit you downward but I'm not positive) it made my entire UI and backgroud disappear, I could only see character sprites, not the background to show me where I was or the ground to show me where I was hitting it, nor my speed nor my hit tokens. I hit a cannon and one of the aforementioned downward spitters with no effect, but when I ran into the ally who makes you eat the red dudes and avoid the yellow dudes and then spits you out, it returned my UI to normal.
Second, in the Burrito Geek challenge, going off the top of the screen right as I approached the second wall appeared to bug the game, it ran me into a blank background for a few seconds and then told me I had failed, despite having a speed of almost 300.
Everything about this game is 5/5 EXCEPT for how incredibly cumbersome the crafting system is when you have to make half a dozen sub-components which are each made of several sub-components each, and that takes possibly HUNDREDS of clicks... You get a solid 4/5 for now, if anything is implemented to address this you'll get a 5/5 for sure
I agree with SandwichKed on pretty much everything. I like the idea, an upgradeless defense game is appealing to those who are burnt out on the genre, there's not a ton of variety in the enemies but that can frequently be overlooked, very intuitive gameplay...
On the bad side, we have no ability to move towers once placed, no ability to cancel placing a tower once it's selected from the store (!), and a very short game length. The game itself would get a 3/5 from me (2/5 if you were a more experienced developer), with the +1 mute-before-starting bonus you get 4, but the game doesn't really warrant that in my eyes. Not trying to be super harsh with you, it's a great proof-of-concept like Sandwich said, but it fails to deliver on some points. With a little bit more tweaking you could easily have a 5/5 game though, so keep it up!
I was ready to 5/5 as soon as I saw "Motherload" as inspiration; that remains one of my favourite Flash games of all time, and if this is anything like it you are sure of a 5/5 from me, sir or madam.
Pretty fun, though there isn't a lot of guidance, and the quests don't really make themselves obvious as something you need to achieve. Also, informational dialogues should be accessible while the game is paused; I'd rather be able to upgrade and promote from the pause screen as well but I won't downrank for that lack, but not being able to read the manual, or tips, or look at statistics, while the game is paused, is really unnecessary. Would be 4/5 without that, 3/5 as is.
I'm sorry, but the minute I realized I was forced to use arrows instead of WASD, spacebar to shoot AND use the mouse, I stopped wanting to play immediately. If other control scheme options become available I'll give the game a fair run but for now I have to say 1/5
Just got to level 24. Rating lowered from 4/5 to 3/5 cause that's just ridiculous. I love bullet hell games and I like them masochistically hard but that's just ridiculous, tried it with every body maxed, different weapons and mods... Nada. :-/
4/5 from a bullet hell fan. As others have mentioned, the unusually large hitbox, lack of recovery invulnerability after taking damage and low power curve for your weapons takes away some, would be 5/5 otherwise.
If you're going to put a link ON THE PLAYING FIELD which opens a new window, at LEAST make the game pause when the window is unfocused. 2/5 for this glaring oversight, would be 4/5 if it were fixed.
If I could rate this higher than 5/5 I would. Considering registering a couple of new accounts to give it more 5s. Best game I've played on Kongregate, period.
If you switch tabs/windows away from the game, the sound turns itself back on, this is quite annoying; despite this, great concept, solid gameplay, challenging puzzles without being head-bashingly difficult, so you still get 5/5 from me.
Hint 1: The first letters of the names are very important for snails. Hint 2: Boys like blue, girls like pink ;) Have fun finding the solution!
