This is a really great game and I know I can say this after just playing half of it. You really thought of everything, the goal, the obstacles making it harder for the player, the mechanics (DAT MOOSE!!!)
Although it is just a small game, I think 5 stars are very fair. I'm just missing the restart opportunity, but that was already mentioned and doesn't make the game itself worse at all.
(sorry for double posting, but I'm limited to 1000 chars / comment)
And don't forget that there are still people who are too lazy to read (oh the irony), so a short tutorial in the first level and a small introduction in each level where a new things would be very nice. You don't have do delete the text before each level (you just need to re-write it, as I have already said :p), just something like "I wonder what's the key for..." is enough.
And please, make a key for the "Try Again" button at least. It is annoying to die and place the hand on the mouse again for one click every 10 seconds.
The music quality is also not very good, but well, it is the least important thing to worry about, not only because you can turn it off.
As I have already said, it is not a bad game at all, but in my opinion there are some points you could improve. I think 3 stars are fair.
This game isn't bad at all. But to be honest it is also not really a good one. I mean the idea is good, but the implementation is not great. I'm not talking about the graphics, I don't care about that point.
The first point is the story. I think you should have worked harder on it. "The devil haunts me, because I am lazy" is pretty boring. I mean this cannot be the only reason, it must have a bad affect on other people, when you are lazy. Make your story more interesting, so it makes it worth reading a relatively long text. That's just my opinion.
Second point, the player shouldn't be able to hide the grid, since you are hiding the objects at the beginning of each level. It would be much harder to estimate the position of the objects without the grid.
There is one question I have. I've started reading the AS3-Tutorial from Adobe (don't worry, your game is awesome and I will keep reading your tutorial), but it doesn't say anything about the "private" when declaring a variable. It just says you need to write var varName:Type = value;
Well, this confuses me. Why do you use "private" in your tutorial?
If you are writing code in the timeline (which I don't recommend) then you only use var. Also, if you are writing local variables, like in functions, then you use var. We are going to use object oriented programming though (OOP) and that means our code will be in different classes. We make the variables private to prevent them from interfering with each other. Variables shared between different objects/classes are public, or protected, or static. Hope that helps. :)
@illustratorgirl You just have to declare the type once. So if you write "userInput:Number = x" and you want to add something, you don't need to write ":Number" again. So the correct answer is "userInput *= 2;"
It's not a bug. Buying Health is only for the health in the exercises / Rite of Passage. To have full health in the arena you have to restore the computer.
It would still be helpful for many players, if it is mentioned in the shop.
