Watch the GDC talk titled "Chinese Browser Game Design" and get a feel for R2Game's plan for MMOs. Essentially they make games and release servers for said games to gouge as much money out of people as possible. Every whale (and this is a term they don't throw around lightly) will support hundreds of non-paying players. If you refuse to give them a cent, they will continue turning a blind-eye.
If you really need an MMO fix, look for something that isn't browser-based, regardless of the company. They are games created solely to gouge your wallets. "Pay to win" is a misnomer: you are paying to lose your life's earnings.
You must not be looking at all if you can't find "a cooler" mmo. Crystal Saga is a garbage-tier Korean MMO and is heavily predicated on the notion that spending actual money on virtual currency is a good thing. Spoilers: It isn't. Save your allowance for the ice cream man instead, kids.

What a crappy game. Especially after watching an Extra Credits where they explain this kind of dopey monetization for the sake of churning out a cheap profit at the expense of annoying their potential customers. It makes no sense to build a system out of paying to keep playing, or paying to decimate people. Stop doing this dumb businesses. Please.
This game is pretty janky. Really bad voice acting, grammar and spelling errors abound. A bunch of lifted sound effects. This odd exploitation of women. I honestly don't know how this got a front page feature. I almost wish I could vote zero stars.
