Love the game, love the developer. My only frustration is that I sank a couple of hours into it, relying a lot on luck to be able to capture monsters and even bosses, only for both the auto-save and the manual save to get wiped for whatever reason. As much as I want to simply start over and save files to my HD on the second run, I can't find the motivation to do so :(
I'll tell you my opinion about this game, now that I've.. one moment, need to empty my backpack. Right, my opinion on this game is that.. moment, gotta clear out my backpack. Okay.. I think the game is very.. darnit, backpack is full again. I give up.
A suggestion for when equipment can't be upgraded anymore is to add a perk to them to the equipment instead, like a small chance for double hit or something.
A lot of players support this suggestion. A couple reasons why we are hesitant to do it:
1) It seems artificial that what you find is based on what you already have.
2) If you find a good weapon early, you already have a big advantage. This is somewhat balanced by the fact that it is now harder to upgrade your weapon. If we always give some sort of upgrade, then too much of the game will be about finding good weapons early in the game.
The most frustrating part of this game is that, when the RNG decides to hardly spawn any equipment racks or chests in the entire dungeon, and the few ones you actually find roll a +1 or +2 that don't provide any improvement over your base equipment, it's just a big waste of time and not fun at all. I do like the game, but I've spent a frustrating amount of time intentionally getting myself killed because the RNG rendered any ambition pointless.
While I see how this game can be addicting, I don't understand the details behind how my choices affect chance of success. The percentage count for accuracy is pretty self-explanatory, but that's pretty much the extent of the things that I definitely understand in this game. Would be nice with some gear rewards, or some kind of addition to the progression system beyond the repetitive stat upgrades and climbing the rank ladder :)
Instead of deleting your save upon death, it would be really cool if you accumulate points based on how you performed up until your death, and then have a choice of perks to spend those points on, in order to help you advance during your next run. I played another game on Kongregate that had such a feature. You'd die constantly, but you'd unlock new characters or perks each time, which would make it easier to advance further during your next run. Such a feature would be perfect for this game.
The dialogues between characters when you start up the game, sometimes freeze after it's ended. I've experienced it a few times since I started playing the game. You can skip it up until the last comment, and then the game freezes and I have to refresh the browser and hope that it doesn't freeze again. It usually resolves itself after a refresh. I'm not sure what triggers it.
This is a known issue. Aside from freezing, it doesn't do any harm, so it's a bit low on my priority list. I would suggest using the skip button for now.
Encountered a bug where I collected 3 of those cash bags inbetween gates in one run. The cash counter showed that I got more than 3mill cash, but then it suddenly went into the negatives. Once I went to the shop, the counter had reseted back to 0 cash. Odd bug/glitch.. whatever it was.
