The game grinds to a halt in the mm and then it takes hours to get 1 upgrade, then 2, then 4...
Make the upgrades cheaper or become better faster. Or both.
The feels like the point where a prestige system is useful, but from another response it sounds involuntary at 10 gigameters which would take decades at most optimized.
