Quite fun. There's a little bit of Captain Forever combined with a basic 4X/RTS game. I do wish the campaign had an actual "end," though. Also, there seems to be a bug (?) where any additional powers beyond the first bar aren't allowed.
Oh, also, turning the sound off is glitchy, so the sound occasionally turns back on for a second. And it doesn't seem that I'm getting any new items in hard mode.
Pretty fun until you get to "hard mode." It's less "hard" and more "incredibly tedious," since the enemy HP is raised to ridiculous levels. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable time waster.
As a Qix "update" this gets a few fundamental things wrong. Not dying when the enemies hit your trail makes the game much easier. However, the enemies' ability to kill you on a line makes the game more frustrating. The biggest problem I had was the respawning enemies. What's the point of taking them out if it only makes the rest of the level harder?
Everything takes too long in this game. The missions last for too long, it takes too long to level up, and the bonuses seem few and far between. It really heightens the repetition and monotony of the game to the point where it's just not fun to keep playing. There's never a sense of urgency and the bonuses don't add any interesting elements, since they just improve what you're naturally doing. Overall, it's light on carrot and heavy on stick.
I don't have a problem with the premium version thing, but the fact that it is sometimes literally impossible to complete a level due to the randomness of the pieces really ruined the game for me.
This RC pro-am, but single-player and not fun. I never even got to see if there are other courses, because the ridiculous 10 laps required to finish the first race would be unbearably dull.
