Engine = what you get after completing Tom’s AS2 tutorial or MJW’s 12-part AS3. It’s… an engine that you run on. You add teh fancy stuff on top of the engine later.
Basically, the engine is your almost complete game; all you then need to do is add random stuff, like better graphics, music, more difficulty, storylines, levels, etc.
