As long as you keep moving you will be fine, they aim directly at you, also, get alot of grow hexes, as they(I believe) make it easier to evolve, and also give you more hex spawns upon evolution. I got six spawns in one and like 3 mutations
Most people in these comments don't understand the idea of inertia, while your cell is in motion, when something is fired from it, that momentum is transferred somewhat, causing it to disturb a straight forward path, and the fact that specific missiles spawn from different offset cells, they are not pinpoint accurate, all you have to do is account for the offset and momentum and you'll be able to hit your target. Also, one reason this may have been done as a programmer's note, you used the direction in which was being aimed instead of the exact point, so, if it delays, or you are moving too fast, you change your position, but the direction stays the same, so they fly the same route, but off however much your ship moved.
I thought it was a very good concept but could be improved, perhaps guns can be found more based on kills, and also, the map is too large and the character too small, try making it a minimap with more an fps feel.
Whats fun is on nightmare with no collision's, no devils, and no friendly fire on mazey make your own maze out of barrels and once it is filled up blow it all up and kill everything inside of it.
There was a bug after I made a bad weapon choice and died and I had fully upgraded the wall/fence but then when I restarted the old price carried over so instead of being $3,000 it started out as $12,000
