Correction to my last comment: Rather than a lack of sound-mute button, the buttons are mislabeled, and there's no broad "mute" button apart from using the individual ones together. Weird, but less weird.
Could use a bit of tuning in a few ways:
- Multiple upgrade paths or options. I'd have killed for some Bullet Size on Dad, for example.
- An extra family member, maybe Older Brother or Uncle, to round it out. Maybe emphasize area-of-effect attacks, like holy water balloons or something?
- REALLY needs an option to restart at the checkpoint of your choice.
- Bafflingly does not have an option to mute music without also muting sound, yet has the option for the other way around?
Given that you usually cannot back out of a conversation without blowing a change, I think either returning to "Meh" should not count as a Mood Change, OR you should have more like 10-12 changes per loop. Either way, "Changing" to the same mood you were already in currently counts as a change, it really shouldn't.
I understand the previous model was broken, but Dark Knights no longer having -any- impact on conquest speed has made war into a completely unenjoyable protracted slog. It should still have some impact, if not the ridiculous levels if used to have: Right now, it has turned the least fun (but ignorable) part of the game into an active detriment that makes it impossible to enjoy. The VN additions are nice, but it's a bit of a shame that after all this time that's the only content in this update. Ideally, another update in a few days will revert DKs back to having some impact (albeit lesser) on war speed.
Conquest gives you a +5 bonus to altar multiplier which is really huge. Dark knights give boosts to all of the economy gains. Yeah the term 'dark knights' is misleading considering we never meant for them to actually affect battle speeds although they do affect army power. We never intended for conquest to be a quick thing at all and I really regret giving in to people who were upset over how long it took to conquer the world. I realize that people have gotten used to the rapid conquest speeds and maybe many will quit the game as a result of this but it was truly a horrible decision on my part to speed up conquest in such a way. If anything, I should have allowed you to spend 'troops' to allow you to speed up conquest instead of a flat increase based on dark knights. In fact that is a really good idea and is something to consider.
Lots of really amateur rounding errors and visible trailing numbers, trivial fixes. Actual gameplay is solid, there's a few weird jumps in the curve but otherwise it's neat. Good concept, 4/5.
Severely lacking in endgame, has a solid curve otherwise, especially in the midgame. Better knowledge of math would really benefit the dev, some things scale strangely (tree, weapon speed), some things are incredibly opaque in a bad way (tree, weapon speed), and some mechanics are frustrating until you're strong enough and then instantly both trivial and meaningless (getting good Triumphant enchantments, most of the gameplay). Achievement rewards are a nice touch, but applied spottily and mostly to the easiest-to-earn ones. Overall, meh.
Interesting typo: The 'Savings 4' quest says it earns you 5k "cash and money". Shouldn't one of those be about the experience gained? Also, I agree with several of the other comments: The slots need to be pretty much instant, and everything after Fishing doesn't really scale well at all, value-for-time wise. Oh, and on a new note, the Snail catcher frequently has situations where it is physically impossible to not break combo- The bucket's hitbox is wonky and it moves too slowly.
