It is as much a reinvention of chess as any other strategy board game, ie: checkers, risk, stratego, just to name a few, but Armis is totally different than all of them.
One Day Contest (May 20, 2012): $30 to the first person that does the following: 1) wins Armis 3 times (per kongregate's scoring system), and 2) sends me a message requesting the funds.
Start each game by placing your Reserve next to or directly in front of your Flag, then place your Mover one or two spaces away from coastal waters (within your set-up zone), then arrange all other pieces such that they are contiguous and there are no holes. There are a couple youtube videos showing how to set-up Armis.
The rules of the game are vested in the Player's Handbook, they can be downloaded from the publisher's site, there are also many youtube video's showing how to set-up, how the player pieces move, and what powers are given to each piece.
Many pieces can move in multiple directions in a single move, some are able to fly, some are able to enter waters, and one is able to issue massive destruction (Nuke) if the Child or Diplomat doesn't destroy it first.
The AI level is set to beginner so, as long as you look before you move your will probably do ok.
Hopefully the site owners will allow me give players added incentives to play and enjoy.
I assure you that if you do well with this game you will make money in the future one way or another.
