You should have gone back up the stairs, any enemies adjacent to you when you do will be brought with you. you can use this to bring down the size of an unimaginable horde.
@inonimus the staff of ice inflicts slow, this means they cannot move diagonal. with this and enough space it becomes impossible for a melee enemy to damage you at all. the ice staff is plenty powerful.
when grinding to beat the last few levels in post game cage of nemesis is useful because the boss drops infinite loot if you dont kill both simultaneously
My idea for how to make an extended game is to use nethack's idea of bringing the mcguffin back to the top with a new tier of high powered opponents in addition to the normal ones.
this game is 6 years old and aging and they still have not fixed the dialogue.
the second thing the game says: "whats that sounds?" they clearly don't care about it
