That's kind of the point. If you use it the boss is PATHETIC. Just keep switching sides every 2 seconds and hold your mouse over the center, and you won't be in any danger.
If your shooting rate is maxed, then yes. If not, then the number of asteroids can build up pretty quickly (can also happen with max shooting during later rounds). The problem I have with making bosses is trying to make them challenging but not impossible. In my next game, I decided to simply not have a boss to rectify the issue :P.
Don't know how to respond to your comment, so im making a new one. It seems that your sort of bounce off an enemy when you get it, but the bounce is such a short distance that you effectively get chained by one coming at you. Hope that helps.
Oh, and the last boss is way too easy.
Only the developer can reply directly to a comment. The bounce is indeed pretty short (ironically, earlier on in development, the bounce was much greater due to the enemies moving much faster, so I decreased the enemy speed to make it easier overall, which lessened the effect of the shield). What would you change about the boss? My goal was to make one that had a strategy (the continuous warping), and if that idea isn't used, it becomes much more difficult.
Shield is fundamentally flawed. If an enemy hit's you, they just push you along with them basically meaning a death anyway. Plus it drains so fast that unless you're about level 40 or above you don't even have enough time to notice you're getting pushed along until it's too late.
Hmm... they should be bouncing off of you instead (unless they hit head-on). You lose one shield per frame, so yes it's pretty fast. I didn't want the shield to become overpowered too quickly (since you can literally keep it growing forever). I'll still keep you input in mind for the future though (a lot of it has to do with my own preference of difficult games). Congratulations on reaching the shield upgrade too!
