There's something not quite right when my 64GB laptop running 64-bit browser throws an error saying it doesn't have enough memory to load this game... :(
It's hard to say what the reason for this is. The game needs less than 400mb memory, so this shouldn't be a problem in general. My assumption would be, that the memory is too fragmented, so that there isn't a chunk available that is big enough. This could happen when you have a lot of tabs opened. Most of the time it helps to just restart the browser. Sadly there isn't really anything I can do here, but writing the whole game from scratch, which isn't an option for me.
If anyone in the community has an idea, I'm very open to suggestions.
Sigh. Yet another lost saved game. Don't have the heart to start from first level again. How I would love all Kong games to come with an option for automatic save game export somewhere that isn't at the mercy of the browser and plugin gods.
Ah, the special joy that comes from a save game disappearing for no particular reason. A general plea to every dev for every game: please provide a way to export and import save games because this happens way too much even for savvy players who do everything that's supposed to prevent it.
I AM SO HAPPY WITH THIS GAME!
I played with my girlfriend at my shoulder for some of it, and she has a PhD in Philosophy. She totally called it that Kant would have to be the successor to Mill. :)
Now that I've played this all the way up to L20 (without buying a single star), I think synapticon has been very very clever.
By making the advantage given by paid equipment & ships so fricking huge, even if 10 of us say "dude, are you out of your mind, why would I pay more to compete on an equal footing in your browser game than it costs to buy Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 combined"... there'll still be someone who can't stand the idea that they're constantly being pwned in PvP... and who'll pony up the money. Maybe only $25 at first, but when they see that (1) this provides a pretty big advantage, but (2) others still have a huge advantage over them, competitiveness and the sunk cost fallacy will see them slowly fork out the same sorts of money. Why would synapticon think this was a bad thing, when the dollars keep rolling in? Well played sir, well played.
A new low - I'm almost getting used to various timeouts every 2-5 minutes, but when a timeout popop appears behind a "Jumping to" window, I can't even click it. Sure, no big deal to just reload the page myself.
I have to laugh when a browser game that so regularly needs a page reload that it has custom error messages for it is broken to the point where I can't even click on its "oh yeah, it's been 90 seconds, time for a new reload" message.
SO glad I didn't put any money into this. I'd be trying to get a refund if I had. I'm voting you one star only because I can't vote any lower.
The bouncing user interface is cute the first time. It's annoying thereafter. It slows down what we want to do, namely interacting with screen controls. First principle of UI design is to get out of the users' way. :)
Well I guess if Bethesda can't be bothered producing a 64-bit version of Skyrim I can't really fault a small outfit for not bothering with a 64-bit version of their game.
Apparently the fastest residential broadband can buy in Australia isn't enough here. Oh well. 1/5 for totally acting the American stereotype of thinking there's nothing outside the USA.
Many good ideas but the basic gameplay and enjoyability is zero.
When I don't have the one single magical sequence that works against an enemy, I'm annoyed.
When I *do* - it isn't satisfying, and I'm still annoyed.
I've been playing out of stubbornness and obsessiveness only, but there's no actual enjoyment in failing dozens of times in a row, and if there isn't even any enjoyment when I finally do succeed, then someone's very wrong with playability.
Any "this is the only way of doing it" game isn't much fun. Sorry.
