I played for a few hours yesterday and somehow it never saved once that entire time. FML... I got as far as grinding to get both the first HP regen and Armour...

you need to refresh browser. it can restore your save

Can you add something in the ascension section to say what rank is needed to get Champion? Since you can't see it until the one behind champion.

I have a suggestion, and a small quick one at that. For the first quest (for the skulls) can you add in brackets a note saying that it means have them in your inventory (If I'm wrong and it's click them to use, please say...)
In the dialogue, it now says that you need to be holding the item. I think I've disabled the ability to drop all quest-exclusive items. If you feel this is still an issue, please leave a comment for me :)
