What's the point of having different enemy groups? If they're all going to focus on the player's units, then why even make multiple groups other than to spice things up a little?
If you don't want your cannons to fir too early, set them up up a little back so they let more than one enemy unit come out before they fire.

After you fight past the first level you should start with more money. Use the extra money to go ahead and unlock the Puckle Gun. Instead of doing one-hit-kills it fires faster than even the British troops and deals about the same damage as a low level unit. Once you get around to setting up good defenses and having three or four P. Guns firing at where the enemies spawn from you should have no problems. Just make sure you maintain your barricades and units, and make sure none of your bastions can be easily gotten to. Throw in a few traps for good measure, too.
This is a pretty good game. People saying that they can't finish need to just try jumping from the very edge of the platforms, because that is pretty much the only way to finish until you transform into the final evolution.
I hope you update new features to the game. Adding an upgrade counter would be helpful, as would a greater diversity of troops. More upgrade types could be fun, or you could allow us to control a different unit type or a hero.
