I drift near to my vicarious lovers, edging ever closer in in a desperate bid for recognition, for love, but ever shying away from that fateful encounter, because to be noticed means cruel rejection, and bitter heartbreak. Ever hopeful, never noticed, I live in my own world; in a silent orbit around the objects of my affections, lost in a doomed quest for proximity, which I try to convince myself is love. Frantically, I construct my fairy castles, denying the truth of the world as it shifts around me, until, inevitably, I am noticed, make contact, am crushed.
Now I am sad and will go smash zombies.
My first reaction to this game was - "Wow. So being a slut and a tease is a good thing?" But as I played a little more, I realized that I'm not interacting with the other little squares at all. I get all dizzy being next to them, but they never acknowledge my existence - in fact, if I should be so bold as to touch them - I die. So what does that make me? Certainly not the gregarious queen bee around whom society orbits. No, I am the poor wallflower, the shy girl, noticed by none and doomed to lead a lonely existence at the fringe of society.
So my lowest-kill weapon is the land mine with two kills. I played Level 25 using nothing but mines (and teleports) - and after I won I still have only two kills with mines. I'm gonna have to figure out how to blow people up without blowing them off... the screen, that is. :-P
100% Completion FTW! This is definitely the most fun I've had on Kongregate in quite a while. A great fusion of Worms gameplay and Gravitee physics! I do have a couple of suggestions: The AI needs to be beefed up a bit for the later levels; the upgrades, while fun, are too easy to get; the camera positioning was sometimes quirky; and (as I'm sure you're tired of hearing) movement controls could be better, not that they were that tough to figure out. Still, the gameplay is great, graphics were excellent, music was good and the fun factor was definitely tops. Thanks for a great game!
Very cool concept, nice graphics, excellent music. The animation could be better, but that's nitpicking. However, I'm only giving it three stars because of that godawful teakettle shriek which refused to let up for the final two chapters! My ears are still bleeding. :(
Kamahsi: No it's not. What you need to do is "drop the hammer!"
Spawnfox: Yeah it is, but wait until you get to 38....
I like this game. Even if the ice doesn't slide sometimes and all these spiky icicles and giant rocks drop into the flimsy little boat and BOUNCE! And sink. Maybe it's methane ice? I hear it's pretty cold in Norway. I need sleep.... 4.5/5
Umm. Where to start....
First of all, the construction interface is, in a word, clunky. I can't tweak the length of beams, the fuel tanks and engines won't pass through beams during placement but I can build beams through placed objects, different delete functions for objects and structure. Second, the phsics are a bit wonky. If I attach a propeller to the tip of a triangle, I would expect said triangle to dangle under the propeller. It doesn't. Thirdly, controls are iffy. For example, I can't adjust two analog controls simultaneously. Makes it hard to balance, you know...
On the plus side, I like the premise of the whole game. With a few tweaks, you would have the basis for a fantastic game. I'm giving it three stars for potential.
Furthermore, there wasn't a single level that couldn't be solved with a simple track - or less.
inXile Ent, I apologize for all the complaints, but I really do love Fantastic Contraption. I respect your desire to earn a buck - I just hate to see such a good game exploited like this.
There's an easy efficiency exploit, if you care - leave a solar panel lying on the ground in your start box. Ta dah! 100% efficiency. On smaller machines, anyways.
.... Sigh. I loved the first FC. I was thrilled to see a sequel, and I want to give it a fair shake, but that Prius is a fingernail on the blackboard of my consciousness. To quote Sir Mix-A-Lot: "It's just so big! ... It's just out there!" Also, the solar panels don't seem to affect anything but the efficiency meter, and seem more than a little gimmicky. I would rate this game a four, but that ad drops my enjoyment rating to a three. I'm sad now.
Okay, I'm officially done with this game. Having won the Obsession Medal and I Like Turtles badge, I can now go waste time more constructively elsewhere... like by banging my head into a wall. Repeatedly. Boom!
STABLE ORBIT, BABY! Here I sit, playing challenge mode, and the ball keeps going, and going, and going..... The points counter broke at 32k, and I earned the Infinitee and Beyond award. Wheee! Oh, and this is an excellent game. :-))
