Square Man Idle 2

Auto upgrade is super helpful. You could, alternatively, make it a prestige upgrade where players have to buy various things, eg each tier gives auto-upgrade to a new dude and perhaps separate tiers for the special features. That'll keep more of your original intention but make players feel accomplished!

@fr0stxD- There already is an upgrade for merger velocity. Scroll down in the prestige window.

@XavierLX- Players will want to grab quantum processors as soon as they can. They reset all quantum foam, but add a multiplicative boost. There are only 5, but can be leveled to increase multiplier. With x20 processors, I am getting a 3.2m multiplicative boost to matter production. A million quantum foam only gives a 10k multiplier, so processors are huge.

I mean, it's nice that you added a new class, but I'm sitting at level 19 making infinity gold, fighting a boss with infinity life, and all my upgrades cost infinity. I'm not likely to ever get that. I ascended to fix it, and now my troops cost infinity and can't be purchased.

The performance issues are pretty meaningful. Post-death countdown seconds are lasting 6-9 seconds each, and my computer is pretty robust. Given then low attack and move speed of the base game, this makes the whole thing feel really sluggish.

Developer Reply

This is strange, some performance problems are known to occur in particular contexts but not globally. This one runs on very small configurations at 60FPS without any problems.

Would love to see a prestige mechanic with automation- especially for item points. Also, skills could use some more balancing. Right now removing all other skills and spamming small left swing is the best strat.

Thank you for your advice! I'll consider it:)

15 T2 card purchased in 2nd map. All of them for wood, and all of them provide less than a T1 investor imp. 17 minutes between tries. It's just not very engaging with this kind of balance and inconsistent reward system

132 Idle Bucks to unlock all perm upgrades... That would take months of daily logins, or hundreds to thousands of spins? Oh wait, or you could pay to win...

Well, we finished a $20k copy of the Mona Lisa. Let's make the same freakin' monochromatic spider 4 times in a row and sell it for $2.

I mean, the game loop isn't horrible, but the pay to win is so insanely over-the-top that it's offensive.

It's disingenuous to say that "90% of players can't afford 'premium' games". If that were true, consoles would have died out in the 80's. Freemium is a high-reward model for devs with high cost to the overall gaming community. I completely agree that devs (you) should be compensated for your work, I just don't like games that force it via in-game mechanics. Plenty of indy devs manage without microtransactions. I appreciate your quick replies and hope the best for your company, but I can't support a group that advocates for expansion of freemium development. It could also be worth talking with your legal team to explore adding a common-language addendum to the privacy policy explaining what you do and don't actually collect (since, like you said, you don't collect the stuff folks are wary of) to help put players' minds at ease.

Also, given the anxiety in the gaming community about overshare of personal information and microtransactions, does anyone else find it oddly suspicious that any negative comment relating to either topic is getting down-voted until hidden?

Developer Reply

microtransactions is what pays our rent and our salaries, if you want quality games, support the system or else we would have only premium games that 90% of the people cannot afford. Also it's common sense that we do not track any personal information since we do not ask for anything. How can we know about your info if you don't give it to us? We do not even ask for emails, nothing at all, only your save file.

I don't know man... "Holyday Studios may collect Personal Data and Non-Personal Data... Non-Personal Data also includes... the identity of other apps included on the User's device,... and the URLs the User visited and/or apps the User used before and after using our Services" That's a whole lot of data permissions to give a company I don't know or trust just for an idle game, and there's plenty more permissions than those...

Developer Reply

do you remember giving these information? having these things for GDPR is a legal obligation that we can't escape, it doesn't mean that we do indeed gather these info. We don't actually. We only know about your save file of the game nothing more, and that is for your save file's safety. for example after a clear cache to restore it.

Super laggy even with a very strong PC. Buttons and projectiles lag. Also, increasing speed (via speedster) drastically weakens towers due to accuracy not scaling with monster speed. Lots of bugs, but lots of potential.

Developer Reply

Well im not sure what it depends on but I have absolute 0 lags for at least 1-2h on 6x speed, it may get laggy over time (reload fixes it). I will be working on that. Btw if there is "Lots of bugs" perhaps tell me about them so I can fix them.
