Main RP Character: Name: Erik "The Adept" Race: Originally human, thou now he is a mutant something beyond human. Gender: Asexual (Originally male, thou he evolved into a superior way of reproduction in which he reproduces asexually) He still possess his original male reproductive organs and they still have the ability to reproduce but his main way of reproducing is splitting into two. All of his offspring (Over a 1,000 in counting) Are drones (They cannot reproduce) And serve as his minions, he uses them to launch attacks on super hero, or villain bases, or on the foes he faces who also posses minions. His offspring possess the same ability he has (Reactive Adaptation.) Age: Age is of no importance to Erik for he evolved from the effects of age. Physical Appearance: (Although it changes with adaptation) His main form is a tall athletic man, wearing a black cloak. He has black medium length hair and corpse paint to add intimidation to his appearance, thou it will not work against all foes it helps sometimes to scare the shit out of someone. Weapons and Equipment: He has no weapons, he himself is a weapon. Abilities: Reactive Adaptation: Reactive Adaptation, also called Reactive Evolution is the ability to often-physically adapt one’s body to any environment or situation to which the user is introduced. This is primarily a form of automatic shapeshifting of one's physical features; however, it can also include other faculties: • Dermal Adaptation also called Skin Adaptation or Dermal Adapt- ability to adapt to environments by changing one's skin (instead of the entire body) to suit it; one with this ability can grow scales, excess hair, even skin similar to stone or armor. The user of this ability will not acquire new abilities unless those abilities go with the condition, color or texture of their skin • Mental Adaptation, also known as Knowledge Adaptation, Answer Adaptation, Adaptive Intelligence, Automatic Answering or Mental Adapt- ability to either adapt one's IQ temporarily to understand complex systems, or to automatically blurt out the answer to questions (asked or posed by others) without actually knowing or retaining the answer that one gives out • Emotional Adaptation, also known as Empathic Adaptation or Emotional Adapt- ability to gain abilities or adaptations based on one's emotions or to adapt based on the emotions of others; this ability could lead to the use of nearly any superhuman ability short of the "Omni" powers or Reality Bending, and it may also be accompanied by Empathy • Power Adaptation, also called Ability Adaptation or Power Adapt- ability to only gain superhuman abilities (not superhuman physical features) based on one’s situation; this can be used to gain any ability short of the "Omni" powers or Reality Bending, and it is usually brought on consciously (it only adapts the user to combat beings, not buildings, objects or structures, and won’t work if the user is unconscious) • Juxtaposition or Antithetic Adaptation- ability to psychically match the abilities and benefits of any desired subject so they cannot overtake/surpass the user. This can be used when pursued (the user will always remain the same distance from the pursuer, and thus never be caught), or to keep competitions at a stalemate (so, at least the user won't lose—he just won't win, either). Instead of developing an opposite ability to one’s opponent, like normal Reactive Adaptation, one would gain the foe’s same powers and benefits, and thus resistance to one’s opponents • Superiority or Excellence- ability to psychically outdo the abilities and benefits of any desired subject, so they cannot overtake or surpass the user. This can be used when being pursued (one would be able to run just a bit out of reach, and thus never be caught), or to just barely win competitions. The user just barely outdoes the subject who he is up against. Instead of developing an opposite ability to one’s opponent similar to Juxtaposition or regular Reactive Adaptation, one would gain the same abilities, but of a higher caliber, and thus an advantage against one’s opponents • Digestive Adaptation, also called Matter Ingestion, Pamphagia, Panphagia or Pantophagia is the superhuman ability to ingest and pass any substance through the body without suffering bodily harm (even if it is corrosive like acid, sharp like glass or dense like titanium). This may imply that one’s physiology is built to ingest any material (pliable digestive tract, super-strong teeth), or they can psychically render a material safe to ingest (the digestive tract might even reactively adapt). One with this ability is immune to food-borne sicknesses (food poisoning, alcohol poisoning, salmonella, etc.). This ability may accompany Hyperbite and/or Asepsis. Kinetic Adaptation • Kinetic Adaptation or Adaptive Kinesis is a variation of Reactive Adaptation in which the user’s “kinesis” power changes, based on the materials he comes into contact with. If the user were to touch water, he would gain the power to manipulate water (the power to manipulate fire if he touched fire, and so on). However, if the user were to touch an obscure material, they may be given the choice to just manipulate that material/element/substance or revert back to normal Telekinesis. The user may only manipulate one element or type of material at a time. Lung Adaptation • Lung Adaptation, also called Respiratory/Breathing Adaptation, Alternative Respiration, Alternate Respiration or Atmospheric Respiration is the ability to breathe in any atmosphere or breathing medium. One with this ability could breathe underwater, in outer space, in toxic air, or even in a space with no sort of gaseous breathing medium at all (this faculty is called Anaerobic Respiration, Apnea, or Optional Breathing). However, sometimes the user can simply hold his breath a long time (maybe indefinitely), to stay underwater as long as desired, as a defense against smoke, airborne toxins, etc., making normal respiration optional. Manual Adaptation • Manual Adaptation, also called Conscious Adaptation is a disadvantageous variation of Reactive Adaptation in which the user’s body does not automatically adapt to one’s environment is not automatic, and instead, he must consciously induce the adaptation. One with this ability could be underwater, but would not gain the gills needed to breathe, or the durability needed to withstand the intense water temperatures and pressure, until they consciously made an effort to do so. This also implies one must have a general idea of the adaptations needed in that environment. Note: Rarely does this imply the ability to generate physical adaptations before they are required. Optic Adaptation • Optic Adaptation, also called Visual Adaptation, Sight Adaptation, All-Sight, Panoptism or the Panoptic Effect is the ability to see in all aspects. One with this ability can access Precognition and Postcognition to see any moment in history. The user could also access Telescopic Vision, Microscopic/Magnifying Vision, full vision of the color spectrum, Infrared Vision, Night Vision, X-Ray Vision, and 360° of vision. One with this power can even see through illusions, see the invisible, project their sight and perhaps project Laser Vision (among other visual aspects). The ability, however, only allows perception in one aspect at a time. Sensory Adaptation • Sensory Adaptation or Sense Adaptation is a variation of Reactive Adaptation in which the user’s senses adapt to any stimulus one encounters. One with this ability gains Night Vision in darkness and Protected Sight in intense light. The user could even gain Telescopic Vision or Microscopic Vision if they try to see something not currently available to their senses. However, this ability does not simply heighten the senses; should one encounter a sensory stimulus that would prove devastating, such as intense pain, the senses would instead be lessened. TECH PRIEST ______________________ A Tech-priest is an Adept of the Adeptus Mechanicus of the Imperium of Man who is generally responsible for maintaining all of the advanced technology of the Imperium, enlarging the Imperium's stocks of technical knowledge and conducting what little new scientific research occurs within the Imperium since the end of the Horus Heresy. Tech-priests are members of the Cult Mechanicus, the Cult of the Machine, a priesthood which forms an ecclesiastical hierarchy for the Cult Mechanicus of technicians, scientists, and religious leaders who believe that knowledge represents the only true divinity in the universe. The tech-priests provide the rest of the Imperium with its technicians, scientists and engineers. Though their bodies often incorporate many inorganic components as bionic replacements, tech-priests are fully human, unlike the cybernetic Servitors created by the Adeptus Mechanicus which carry out most of the heavy labour for all of the Imperium's myriad organizations and enterprises. Fabricator-General The Fabricator-General of Mars is the leader of the entire Adeptus Mechanicus, and also serves in the position of the Magos Mechanicus, the chief priest of the Cult Mechanicus, the religious hierarchy that coexists alongside the Adeptus Mechanicus. The Fabricator-General also invariably holds a position on the Senate Imperialis of the High Lords of Terra who collectively rule the Imperium since the Emperor's incarceration in the Golden Throne. Magos The Magi (singular Magos) are the highest-ranking tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus. A Magos has attained this position by fully mastering a single discipline of human knowledge, most usually in the sciences or other technical areas. Magi are normally given a title that incorporates the area of knowledge that they are specialists in. As such, a tech-priest can be a Magos Technicus, a Magos Metallurgicus, Magos Alchemys, Magos Physic, Magos Biologis, Magos Genetor, Magos Cybernetica, or any one of the other myriad areas of science or engineering. Logis A Logis is a tech-priest who serves in the role of a logistician, data analyst, or statistician. His purpose is to predict future large-scale demographic, sociological or demographic trends and make forecasts about the required expenditure or other strategic needs. They are regarded as prophetic figures by the Cult Mechanicus. Genetor A Genetor is the name derived from High Gothic that is given to a high-ranking tech-priest specializing in the genetic sciences and biological engineering. Genetors are very common in the Adeptus Mechanicus, and often accompany Imperial forces on exploration missions to new worlds. They are also the members of the Adeptus Mechanicus responsible for testing the 5% tithe of gene-seed provided to the Mechanicum by every existing Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes for signs of mutation or corruption by Chaos. The Genetors also use these tithes of genetic material when the Imperium requires the creation of new Space Marine Chapters every few centuries. Artisan Artisans (cometimes called Constructors) are the tech-priests who design new devices, edifices, spacecraft, weapons, and other Imperial military hardware. They also control the vast corps of Servitors employed by the Adeptus Mechanicus for all of their labour needs. Electro-priest Electro-priests are fanatic warriors for the Cult Mechanicus, and are tasked with using their cybernetic abilities to support other tech-priest warriors, combat Servitors and the Mechanicus' dedicated combat troops, the Skitarii or Tech-Guard, in battle. Their dermal layers are implanted by the Magos Cybernetica with metallic electoo circuits throughout their bodies. These circuits are designed to interlink with the Electro-priests' neural cortex, which allows them to generate a tremendous amount of bio-electrical energy which they can release in powerful and devastating blasts. When Electro-priests enter battle they chant litanies to the Omnissiah of the Cult of the Machine, whipping themselves into a fanatical state of hatred towards the Mechanicum's enemies and building up the electrical energy that they will release in an orgy of destruction on the battlefield. Enginseer An Enginseer assigned to an Imperial Guard Regiment in battle Added by Montonius Enginseers are perhaps the most common of the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus. They view themselves as engineer-mystics dedicated to the Omnissiah, and each Enginseer possesses a wealth of knowledge on how to maintain and repair mechanical and electronic technology. Unlike most of the Priesthood of the Adeptus Mechanicus, Enginseers can be found serving in almost every Imperial institution (other than the Adeptus Astartes, where the same role is played by the Techmarines), and are often assigned to regiments of the Imperial Guard or other parts of the Adeptus Terra. Enginseers are highly-trained members of the Cult Mechanicus and are dedicated to the maintenance of Imperial technology. Through many years of study, they have gained the knowledge of the arcane rituals and processes that form the body of Imperial technical lore as practiced by the Mechanicus, as well as a more secular understanding of the more practical disciplines of mechanical and electrical engineering. Enginseers serve across the galaxy with the Imperial military, often in harm's way, as they will be called on to make repairs on the battlefield as well as in the workshop. They are a common sight during engagements where the Imperial Guard's forces have engaged large numbers of armoured vehicles, and are often accompanied by a contingent of Servitors for either assistance with the work or defence. Although most Imperial Guardsmen revere their vehicles' machine spirits enough not to irritate an Enginseer by committing blasphemy in the form of "customization," the modification of vehicles to fulfill a certain need is inevitable, much to the horror of any Enginseers' religious principles. Enginseer contingents are also included in the mighty Titan Legions of the Adeptus Mechanicus' Collegia Titanica and the crews of the massive warships of the Imperial Navy, allowing them to perform emergency repairs in the heat of battle. Despite the respect they usually command among the units they are seconded to, Enginseers are not held in high regard among the Cult Mechanicus itself as their skills seldom contribute to the divine Quest for Knowledge which is the chief religious duty of any servant of the Machine Cult. As a result of the overwhelmingly practical rather than theoretical bent of their knowledge, Enginseers are often perceived as no more than a necessary but lowly underclass in the workings of the Cult. Enginseers almost always make use of the cybernetic enhancements that are common among tech-priests, in this case bionic arm augmentations that appear to be very similar to serpentine tentacles known as Mechadendrites. These augmetic limbs are used to help the Enginseer during repair operations, to carry out tasks requiring strength beyond the human norm and in many instances for self-defence. Rune-Priest A Rune-priest is a tech-priest who is responsible for performing the rituals required by the Cult Mechanicus' doctrines for the awakening of Machine Spirits. These rituals involve the scribing of runes and the chanting Cult Mechanicus liturgies over the devices to be so awakened. Rune-priests are often experts after years of studyin perhaps the most arcane branch of science explored by the Adeptus Mechanicus: intuitive mechanics, better known as speculation and improvisation. Rune-priests are famous (or infamous by the standards of the more logic-minded tech-priests) for their unorthodox solutions when strict logic and standard procedures prove inadequate to the task at hand. Transmechanic Transmechanics are those tech-priests who specialize in the repair, operation and maintenance of the Imperium's various forms of communications technology. They are often assigned to serve in other organizations of the Imperium like the Imperial Navy. Lexmechanic The purpose of the tech-priests called Lexmechanics is to compile data so that it can be entered into a central computer (cogitator) repository. They work with computer-like speed and accuracy, assembling battle reports, economic statistics, planetary reports, and other masses of necessray if mundane data required to keep the massive bureaucracy of the Imperium functioning from day to day. They are used throughout all the divisions of the great galaxy-spanning bureaucracy that is the Adeptus Terra, but are most concentrated in the Adeptus
