A bit cliche, but still very fun and challenging. My only complaints are the lack of an auto-fire option and the lack of boss fights. Add those, and I would bump this from a 4 to a 5. :)
The dev is probably crapping his pants right now, seeing that this game is in the running to win a cash prize. Honestly, clever writing is all you really need to make a good game. :)
Wow. This is definitely on my top 10 list of best Flash games ever, simply because of the lovable characters and excellent story writing. However, before you make a sequel (and you really should... I mean, over 5k votes is pretty compelling), I have a couple suggestions.
1. Please let us customize our own keyboard controls. The most annoying thing in this game was accidentally pressing "~" because it's right next to the 1 key, and vice versa.
2. Let us rearrange the weapon bar. It was pretty aggravating having to glance down at the keyboard every time I wanted to switch to one of the later weapons; it would be much easier if we could set our favorite weapons to the first couple number keys.
Anyways, great job on the game, and good luck :)
It seems that this episode is about conformity. The pink squares are hostile towards you, preventing you from getting the crystals. You want those crystals so badly that you're willing to give up what makes you unique (flying) so that the pink squares will accept you. In the end, you have all the crystals, but you have given up all of your abilities.
It's amazing when a game can convey deep messages without even having dialogue. 5/5
This is a great execution of the simple platforming formula. Graphics and music are good, the physics are spot-on, and it makes very good use of two simple obstacles instead of throwing dozens of gimmicks at the player like many platformers do. Sure, the difficulty level is wicked, but that only multiplies the sense of triumph after every level you beat. This deserves a higher average rating than 3.57.
Fun game! My only real complaints are that the game is too short, and the Divine skill tree is underpowered. Some suggestions to improve for the sequel:
1. Make Spark stun enemies for a split second like Judgment does. This would compensate for it being weaker than the other two bolt spells.
2. Add powerups. I.e., when you kill an enemy, there is a small chance it will drop a hp or mp potion, temporary damage increasing potion, etc.
3. Add a Darkness skill tree (muhahahah) with abilities like darkbolt, drain life, and drain mana.
I hope this helps, and I'll be looking forward to a sequel! Good luck!
