YAY! 1.6.5 is now up. You asked, I listened! The final boss fight is easier, revive posts now heal you (though there are now less of them!), and there's a brand new visual map! I've also fixed lots of bugs.
theblade180: Press P to pause. Or just click outside of the game window, it will detect that and pause automatically. You can also pause the game by pressing the settings wrench (in the lower left corner). You'll also find a way to mute the music and sound by clicking on the music/sound icons respectively.
About the waypoint system: I'm receiving a lot of bug reports that the ping command isn't working properly. It does work properly -- But only if you follow the order of waypoints that the ping command gives you *exactly*. If you deviate and grab something earlier than you are meant to, then it will lead you to places you've already visited or possibly can't get to. I probably won't change how it behaves because the waypoint system is meant as a guide to new players. If you've figured out how to get to something earlier than you are supposed to, then congrats! Now you're on your own. :)
Oh and to clarify, I did not make this game in 48 hours. But this game is based on the code for a game I *did* make in 48 hours. That's much simpler. :)
I love some of the comments here, they've really made me laugh. Thanks! BTW, the next version got a little delayed due to some problems out of my control. But I am working on it again tomorrow!
1.6.2 is live! This fixes the black screen crash. I've also added a new error catching screen in case this happens again. If you see it, please screenshot it and send me a bug report! (Be sure to add what you were doing at the time, too.)
Next version will be done by tomorrow, and will include some more bug fixes (all minor, non-game-crashy sorts) and re-tune some of the game play mechanics. In particular, the boss fight is too hard!
As an aside, if you're getting the black screen when you reload a game, then the fix will repair that too. So it's not necessary to start the game over if you are willing to wait a few hours for me to fix the bug and post the update!
Good news! I've found the cause of the black screen bug. I will be releasing a fix today that will keep the bug from causing a black screen and completely ruining the game for some of you. To those who are getting the black screen: CONGRATULATIONS! You're totally sequence breaking my game. :D
Oh, and for those who say they want more of the game.. Don't worry. You know that room with the wall that you cannot pass? No matter what you do? That is reserved for future expansion. :) I had more levels nearly completed, but didn't have enough time to thoroughly test them before releasing the game.
Whoa, thanks for all the comments! I'm going to look over them and figure out what I need to start working on for version 1.7. :) The more feedback I get, the better I can make the game! So thanks for playing and giving me that valuable information.
The first priority is to deal with the "black screen" error that a number of you are reporting. This bug did not show up in initial testing, so I suspect it's something to do with the Kongregate version of this game. For those who sent me a bug report: THANK YOU!
